Kerry, Edwards a winning combination, pollster says
Reporter:

TONY JONES: "Well, joining us now from Washington is Michael Bloomfield, managing director of The Mellman Group -- a polling and consultancy firm.

Mr Bloomfield's clients include leading US political figures and the Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee.

Capitol Hill's newspaper, 'Roll Call', has described him as one of the 50 most influential people working behind the scenes in Washington politics.

TONY JONES: Michael Bloomfield, thanks for joining us?

MICHAEL BLOOMFIELD, MANAGING DIRECTOR, THE MELLMAN GROUP: My pleasure.

TONY JONES: Is there any early indication of the poll bounce this choice is expected to give John Kerry?

MICHAEL BLOOMFIELD: Well, when you say the bounce, what it usually talks about is bringing in people who were about to vote for Kerry and this brings in extra people right away.

Really, John Kerry has done a great job already consolidating Democratic support, we're getting in most polls anywhere from 85 per cent to 90 per cent of Democrats voting for Kerry.

That bounce, out of Democrats, usually happens because the candidate is underperforming in his base."
