First lady eats a hamburger, the world ends
Someday, right-wing ideologues are going to choke on their hatred of Michelle Obama.

The latest line of attack against the first lady was facilitated by the Washington Post, which breathlessly reported a week ago that she had ordered a hamburger, french fries, a chocolate shake and a Diet Coke at a D.C. restaurant: 1,700 calories, the report calculated (then later corrected its estimate to 1,500.) The investigative reporter was not able to learn whether the first lady actually ate the whole thing or maybe shared it, but what's the difference?

2. I can easily imagine a similar response here on DU.
There are some people who are very concerned with food and who might object to her meal. Sounds good to me, though, although I'd skip the shake and only eat a few of the fries. I don't drink diet soft drinks, either. I'd guess my total would be well under 1000 calories.

3. One of our favorite restaurants serves up a pile of delicious fried catfish and french fries.
It's an occasional treat we pair with a half-pitcher of Shiner Bock sipped from tin cups. Oh, did I neglect to say they also serve green beans, pickled onions, cornbread, and coleslaw too? Mmmmmmm...

4. Sounds great! I think I'll go to Catfish Charlie's tomorrow.
Have not been there for a while and I could use a nice lunch. Their menu has all the stuff you mention. Should be a food weekend. Have an invitation to a paella dinner Sunday.

16. Ah, Jeez....
can't anybody be human anymore? An occasional hamburger does not a pattern make. The issue is about eating nothing but high fat, high sodium foods not a sometime indulgence.
I like hamburgers and hot dogs once in a while but that does not stop me from eating more healthily most of the time.
Lighten up! We only live once and the Puritans among us want it to be a purgatory of denial.
