Hatred, smears and the liberals hell-bent on bullying millions of us into silence
Wow what a bunch of shit.

The baleful effects of the recent attacks in Norway, where Anders Breivik bombed Oslo’s government district and then gunned down teenagers at a Labour party camp, murdering at least 77 people, have not been limited to that horrific carnage.

For the atrocity has produced a reaction among people on the political Left in Britain, Europe and the U.S. that is in itself shocking and terrifying.

Former Norwegian prime minister and current chairman of the Nobel Peace Prize committee Thorbjorn Jagland has said that, in response to the violent attacks, David Cameron and other European leaders should use a more ‘cautious’ approach when talking about multiculturalism.

1. He's a fucking nut, and almost certainly mentally ill.
But nuts and crazy people have long been the preferred footpads for the ultra-far-right.

3. He is demanding the resignation of the government, dissolution of parliament and abdication of the
royal family.

Yeah i'd say he's insane.

Just like Beck and the other loons.

2. it is always, *always* projection with these people
which, given the crippled psychological state that produces right-wing "thought," makes a sad kind of sense, I suppose...

4. Breivik is a "useful lunatic."
Edited on Mon Aug-01-11 04:44 PM by The Velveteen Ocelot
Kind of like a useful idiot, only crazy. I don't think he'll actually succeed with an insanity defense (assuming he lets his lawyer even try to use it, which I doubt - he doesn't think he's crazy), because the requirements are so stringent. You have to be pretty flagrantly delusional, and from what I've read Norwegian law is even more restrictive than U.S. law. Even so, he is clearly disturbed; his writings show deep paranoia combined with a heavy dose of megalomania. Who knows what causes a person to go from having and expressing hateful thoughts to acting on them?

That said, while it's doubtful Breivik will be found legally insane, he is a useful lunatic in the sense that he is one of that relatively small number of unstable, disturbed people who do the things the extreme right-wing ranters and bloggers would not do themselves but don't really mind when they happen. Pamela Geller, for example, would not shoot up a summer camp attended by liberal teenagers, but when a guy like Breivik does the dirty work for these people, they wring their hands and say, "Oh, that's terrible; we don't condone violence, blah, blah, blah." But if you read some of the comments on these blogs, you know at least some of them are just fine with it. The author referenced in the OP doth protest too much, methinks.

5. I know this is a terribly selfish sentiment, but it's a little bit of a relief to know
that at least there's ONE NUTJOB WHO ISN'T IN THE U.S. IN THE REPUBLICAN PARTY, and in Congress!

...we got enough of them as it is! And some want to be the GOP candidate for the White House (I can't bring myself to use the term for the actual office in that sentence).
