Blair considers resignation?
From The Kirby File :

Reports are coming from the BBC that British Prime Minister, Tony Blair, considered resigning as recently as last month. Sinking poll numbers and guilt over the conundrum that has come into play in Iraq drove Blair to the brink of resignation. Led by the efforts of several staffers, cabinet members, and his wife Cherie Blair, the Prime Minister decided to continue on and is said to have committed himself for the remainder of his term.

Although he ultimately made no move, it’s quite refreshing to see that the guilt of poor actions can motivate a politician from removing himself from office. You can compare the character of Tony Blair with that of our current President. He knows that one of two things happened under his watch:

1) He knowingly lied to the American people on the threat that Saddam Hussein posed to American citizens, convincing them to join and support a costly war in terms of financial and human life means.

2) He has assembled an inept administration that intentionally lied and misled him and the American people, convincing them to join and support a costly war in terms of financial and human life means.

Now I must ask you all, which is it? Well Bush himself has given us a few clues. He’s continually praised people in his Administration, the CIA, the FBI, and all facets of Homeland security of the “great and wonderful job,” they’ve done in the face of blatant misrepresentation to the American public. Not one person was fired for their mismanagement of their intelligence or war management branches. It was just recently that George Tenet, the director of the CIA resigned, but this was after praise from the President, and there is no indication that he was urged to leave.

Perhaps Bush really did mean it when he implies that everyone below him did a “great and wonderful job.” The aided him in misleading and the continual cover up of the failures that led us into Iraq. I’d say from Bush’s standpoint, that’s a success – wouldn’t you?

Best wishes,
Will

1. One of the many things I'll never forgive Bush for...
is taking down Tony Blair. He used to be a pretty decent fellow, and there may be hope for him, yet.

<UK Prime Minister Tony Blair> used to be a pretty decent fellow, and there may be hope for him, yet.

Yeah, I hope he examines his conscience, and I hope he understands how miserably he has performed, and then I hope he resigns for the good of his nation.

And I hope he takes Big Blunkett with him.
