CNN Poll: Kick the Bums Out and Re-strain the Tea Party

A new CNN/ORC poll shows only 41% of Americans think their congressional representative deserves to be re-elected, and that their views of Democrats are more favorable than their opinions of Republicans. Hey, tea party. If you think you're game of brinkmanship over the debt ceiling helped your cause, maybe you had better think again.

Polls often show disgust and a lack of support for Congress in general. But people typically show much stronger support for their own representative - the person who can deliver on projects and issues important to his or her district. The problem? Tea partiers and Republicans don't have any projects to dole out.

... for the past several MONTHS an overwhelming majority of "those polled" have been telling POTUS and the Administration to raise taxes, keep their hands off the social net, and start standing up for working folks and he keeps digging deeper and deeper into to the Tea-ology.

That's a thousand life times in politics particularly leading up to an election.

"The other guy is worse/more hated." isn't a winning campaign slogan, and the numbers that we're talking about in these polls are not reassuring at all for Dems, even if the other guys are polling worse.

This type of anti-incumbent approach could hurt us just as much as help us.

7. One fortunate side-effect of the Repukes loud & obnoxious behavior...

is that they are perceived to be running the show, regardless who controls the Senate. I predict the anti-incumbent sentiment will hit the Republicans the hardest in 2012. As for the White House, all bets are off.

8. I really don't like polling that asks questions about 'Congress'.

Of course people hate what's happening in Congress...but I'm more interested in which Party is driving the people's dissatisfaction. By fingering Congress, the blame gets assigned equally...and I think we all know that is not the case.
