Michele Bachmann is worried about the Renaissance
"Tea party queen and Republican presidential candidate Michele Bachmann is convinced that America is sinking into tyranny. Why? In a remarkable profile of the candidate appearing in the Aug. 15 issue of the New Yorker magazine, the artistic flowering of the Italian Renaissance takes a beating for having done away with the god-fearing Dark Ages."

Secular democracy and the Enlightenment - can't have that!

1. The rise of secular humanism during The Renaissance likely worries her the most.

2. The Renaissance was not only a time a enlightenment but
a time a brutal and bloody warfare, new and terrible machines or war where created. I would think the Tea Baggers would love that.

5. I don't expect much sense of history from Bachmann
and her ilk - or any theological coherence for that matter.

3. Ah, yes.... back to the days of the Demonic Perspective

where one could be burned at the stake (or, uh, 'purified') for saying something as simple as "I don't believe in God."

Yep, those were some great days. Good times. :sarcasm:

Is it a Feudal Age Renaissance yet?

11. Tell her she's immune
genetically. You have to have working higher cortical functions to have a renaissance. Reptiles, sheep and the like don't have to worry.

13. Let's see...It's Obama's fault even though Boner himself said they got 98% of what they wanted.
This includes no tax hikes on the rich and formation of the super-committee that's set up to dismantle the social programs. Teabaggers should be having a collective orgasm.

Teabagger logic is one big oxymoron.

15. The Facts
President Obama WILL let the Bush tax cuts expire next year. And Boehner is a liar. He did not get 98% of what he wanted. Not close.

Why do you think the Teabaggers are unhappy!? That's why.

16. they haven't called it the Dark Ages since the Era of Genocidal Weasels
(it's what I'm arbitrarily calling the 19th century, since all it took was one guy)

I bet Marcus would feel at home, though... (and I ain't talking about the sorcerers)

17. Renaissance, the Enlightenment, science in general, very seriously -
she's on record against them, as eras and practices which turn humanity away from subjection to God. There's a book out about her background and influences, which is really an eye opener.

Frightening the things going on in that little mind, behind those crazy eyes!
