ASPEN - Former Ambassador Joe Wilson can sum up his opinion of President George W. Bush's post-Sept. 11 administration quite simply.

"Everything they have put into play since Sept. 11 has come up horse turds," Wilson said when he spoke Sunday at the Sopris Foundation State of the World Conference.

The ambassador said that by practicing "radical reactionary" politics to push their own agenda, the current administration "has taken the party so far outside the parameters of political behavior they have ruined the reputation of the United States."

"I think if we paddle this boat hard enough we can change the direction of the river. We certainly need it," he said, expanding on a theme presented in former Colorado Governor Dick Lamm's earlier presentation.

18. Before we get to "serial", please cite one lie.

By cite, I mean refer to a specific Wilson quote, the source for it, and the counter fact(s) that support your claim that it is a lie.

If you show Wilson to be serial liar, I agree that we should not support or depend on him. That said, the outing of a CIA agent is a completely separate matter completely independent of Joe Wilson and his truthfulness.

But I will be very surprised to see your citation of a "lie", much less a series.

I haven't heard any of Ambassador Joseph Wilson's claims to be a lie. He did say that Karl Rove should be frog-marched out in handcuffs, and later backed off on that claim a bit. He noted that he doesn't know if Rove originated the story, but it's common knowledge that Rove did "push" the story. Did Rove leak the information himself, or just coordinate a smear campaign and try to maximize the distribution of the leaked material? In either case, Rove's actions seem pretty unethical.

Perhaps he's talking about a different Wilson? Maybe Tom Hank's imaginary friend in "Cast Away"? Possibly Ann and Nancy Wilson, from the 1980's band "Heart"? (Their song "Barracuda" is nothing but a pack of lies!).

I think we need some clarification.

24. I have noticed that as things get worse for the 'pukes, that...

..."sleeper freepers" start to come out of the woodwork, lobbing their nasty little goodies in discussions and then running. No facts, no data, nothing to support their crap. It used to be that the freepers couldn't hold their winger tongues long enough to get high post counts, but not anymore. The tactic is to sow disharmony and dissension and then run.

For the life of me, I don't get it. I visited FR one time. ONE TIME and I knew it was not the place for me. I have not been back. They've got their opinions, no matter how wrong they are. I'm not going to change their minds. I have no desire to "infiltrate" their site. They really are a non-starter for me. Fine, live in your narrow, little winger world. Joe Wilson did the US proud when he worked in the Embassy in Baghdad during the first Gulf War. He kept US citizens safe when Hussein was threatening to take hostages. He would make a good ambassador.
