http://www.fosters.com/July2004/07.17.04/comment/er_0717_04.aspI wish I could find the original editorial this is in reply to, but I can't--though I'm sure we can all imagine the kind of BS it was.
I thoroughly enjoyed your editorial of July 8, entitled "Edwards lacking in substance."
Although a quick reading might lead some to think it was a serious piece, a closer look revealed a subtle and biting satire.
For example, I loved it when you said, "Cheney offers the president a breadth of knowledge and experience in foreign affairs, politics, and the economy." Funny stuff! Everyone knows by now that Cheney was completely taken in by Iraqi con-man Ahmed Chalabi. So much for his breadth of knowledge!
Everyone also knows that Cheney’s so-called "experience" in foreign affairs made him think the Iraqis would welcome U.S. soldiers with flowers and dance. Instead, we’re stuck in a bloody quagmire. Plus, because of the war, we now have the enmity of nearly every country in the world and a revitalized al-Qaida. Thanks, Dick! And bravo, Foster’s editor! Excellent use of irony to make your point!
