2. I think he's way off base
Bush won't be easy to beat, but he's steadily alienating everyone outside of his ultraconservative base. Considering that he lost the popular vote last time around, I don't see how anybody can credibly call Bush a slam-dunk.

3. Uh... a CARTOONIST named "Houston"

and writing for the "Houston Chronicle"?

Consider the source of this claptrap.

5. I take it the Houston Chronicle must be
as unbiased as the NY Post.

4. I hope he's wrong too, but he makes points about kerry
that probably need to be raised.

Kerry isn't revolutionary in a time when a revolutionary is needed. We need a MLK or a Roosevelt. We need a radical thinker like Einstein or Ghandhi.

We need Dave Matthews to be american-born...

6. David Broder said in a column over the weekend that
Democratic sources say that people just haven't warmed up to Kerry yet. And Browder says that Kerry has "his best and maybe last chance to put his own stamp on this race". Please, please let it happen. I just know it is his destiny to lead this country.

7. I don't think kerry is a bad person or candidate!!
I disagree with some of his stances, but that is different from how I view his mannerisms and speeches.

If you've ever read things that Marley, Ghandhi, King, Matthews, Einstein have said or written there is something about them that WOWs people. Maybe its that they are concise or maybe its the wording. But when they state something you believe it and you feel its original, even when sometimes its not.

I don't know too many who feel that way about Kerry.

8. he makes a compelling case
just kidding. Obviously he makes no case at all, he just repeats that Kerry "can't" beat Bush, just because.

9. Play with the interactive map here:

http://www.latimes.com/news/politics/la-polldatapage.htmlstory

The conservatives are floating various trial balloons; here's an interesting example:

Electoral College Scoreboard: Bush/Kerry Tied 269-269
Polling data from different states continue to roll in, but offered little change in the P2P weekly Electoral College scoreboard. That is---until the end of the week. The first contained good news for the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee.

The American Research Group’s latest Wisconsin state poll showed a striking change in the state giving John Kerry a 48%-42% lead. Then on Saturday a Strategic Vision poll released showed President Bush reclaiming Florida by a slim 48%-46 over Kerry.

Adding up the states---that leaves the Electoral College in P2P's weekly tally in a tie---269-269. Yes--it can happen, the scenario was covered here in March.

Hmmmm...50+ YEARS OLD, snowboarding, skiing, biking, windsurfing,

Macho Mama. Men, you're under attack. If you're a democrat you're a girlie-man or a wimp.

Sounds like the usual Texan drawl of dirt against anyone that doesn't somehow eat oil and spit gold. Can someone please assure the male Texans that the whole country recognizes their superiority? We bow to Texas commentary baby. Now take your pacifier like a good old boy.

I can think of a lot of reasons why Kerry may not win, I can't think of one reason why Bush should not lose.

13. Is this a joke?
"The narrowest shot Democrats have would be if, come November, there is a perception of an Iraq boiling over and an economy barely boiling at all ...".

What country is this guy living in? Iraq IS boiling over and the enconomy sucks (except for the upper 1%). This is GOP speak coming from Rove and Co.

IF this guys theory proves true. It'll be the death of the DLC. Might be WWIII, but at least we won't have to put up with Terry McCauliffe. I'm buying some iodine pills just in case.

...and circular logic. All characteristic of bullet point propaganda. Totally devoid of critical analysis.

He could have said Kerry isn't going to win because...I said so!

and then repeated again and again, ad nauseum. The article would score about the same.

20. As a writer, he's a good cartoonist.
Actually, he's not a very good cartoonist. His stuff tends to be pretty toothless, although he's not 100% pro-Republican.

I read the article & realized why he's not chosen to express himself verbally.
