Former HBS Prof Blasts Bush

Business scholar says president was 'shallow,' 'flippant' in 1970s class

By SIMON W. VOZICK-LEVINSON
Crimson Staff Writer

As the race for the White House heats up and the nation’s left-leaning heads come together to unearth potential skeletons in President Bush’s closet, one line in his resume has avoided major scrutiny: the time Bush spent just across the Charles River, earning an MBA at the Harvard Business School (HBS) in the 1970s. Now, as some fervently question the commander-in-chief’s performance in the Texas National Guard decades ago and more current-minded politicos take aim at the events surrounding Sept. 11, 2001 and the invasion of Iraq, one former HBS professor is doing his best to publicize his recollections of what he calls a sarcastic, mediocre student who went on to lead the United States.

In addition, Tsurumi is still sore about what he recalls as Bush’s slight to his cinematic taste. When he arranged for students to view the film of John Steinbeck’s The Grapes of Wrath during their study of the Great Depression, Tsurumi said, Bush derided the film as “corny.”

“I always remember two groups of students,” Tsurumi said then, according to published reports. “One is the really good students, not only intelligent, but with leadership qualities, courage. The other is the total opposite, unfortunately to which George belonged.”

2. Bush would never be anything else than an effing idiot , The
Grapes of Wrath was a great story and showed a wide array of issues the Okies had to overcome in their plight. and it is so Bush to make fun of other peoples misfortunes. Compassionate my ass.

would see this movies as "corny"? Perhaps a self-absorbed, sociopathic and braindead one... What a colossal moron.

This is the most serious and stark image of our fearsome leader.

He should go back to pulling the legs off bugs, and leave the world alone.

Why didn't I clean this up when I had the chance? Dim-wittedness may be contagious. Perhaps I should've high-tailed it from Texas when I had the chance, too.

3. bush was too stereotypical...
I knew a lot of repugs back then.

Seems they "thought" through the French (how times have changed!) that the Viet Cong were winning that war because they chained their soldiers to their tanks and that each tank knew the one behind would blow it to smithereens if they broke rank.

RedCloud to YAFers: Why not just blow up the last tank and tell each tank to look behind as the evil commie overlord has been destroyed and that they are now free to return to starvation wages of capitalism and international banking and oil?

talk about being readily brainwashed...

7. "may God help your customers and employees"
And given how * said he'd run America like a CEO ... the prof had good reason to be worried! He was right!

8. I hate to burst your bubble . . . but
. . . this is NOT new news. nope. This ex-Harvard visiting associate professor has been yelping about GWBush this and GWBush that for years . . . and it's true, nobody has listened to him.

However, what IS news-worthy is that the B School has picked it up . . . very interesting. VERY INTERESTING. I wonder how much weight it will be given now? As opposed to the tenured professors (who remain at the B School) that clam-up about Good Ole GeorgieW?

Indeed, whistle blowers don't last long, do they? No tenured track was he. Thank you, Professor Tsurumi.
