DNC Day 1: An Evening of Losers (from RW rag)
http://www.frontpagemag.com/Articles/ReadArticle.asp?ID=14396

Boston
JOHN KERRY and John Edwards want to bring you a stronger America. It says so on their signs and the slogan flickers across the thin, ticker-tape video screens that ring the Fleet Center, repeating over and over and over. To that end, they've decided to open their convention with the two biggest losers in the recent history of the Democratic party: Al Gore and Jimmy Carter.

Introduced by Bill Richardson, Al Gore emerges to a warm, if not thunderous ovation. By way of introduction, Richardson notes that Gore was the choice of more Americans in the last election. That seems a little cruel. Imagine if Craig Ehlo spent his entire life being introduced as the man who got beat at the buzzer by Michael Jordan, or Guy Lewis was always introduced as the guy who lost the NCAA championship on Jim Valvano's last second prayer.

Talking about his time in the Navy, Carter mentions that he served under Harry Truman and Dwight Eisenhower, "both of whom," he notes pointedly, "had faced their active military duties with honor." When John Kerry was called to military service, Carter winks, "He showed up."

At times, Carter veers into intellectual incoherence. He charges that "the Middle East peace process has come to a screeching halt for the first time since Israel became a nation." This is true, of course. Except that the screeching halt occurred on Bill Clinton's watch, with the dissolution of the Oslo Accords.

1. Their spin is getting rather pathetic these days
So now they have to resort to comparing getting more votes in an election to losing a basketball game at the buzzer. I don't follow that analogy and I suspect few others would either.

6. A strange analogy
Considering that there is no possible scenario in a basketball game where the team with the fewest points wins.

12. They can't exactly say in their filthy reich wing rag that
Bill Big Dog Clinton gave one of the most brilliant speeches of his life, now can they?

Is there some good press on Bill's speech that we can relish in?

4. Carter a loser
Sure, Carter lost in 1980.

But what has he done since? He's become the epitome of the elder statesman. Politics is not his driving force, justice, human rights, fighting poverty...these are what drives him.

The fact that Carter came to speak in such a partisan way is very much indicative of how BAD things have become here and around the world, because of the Bush misadministration.

If Bush hadn't botched foreign relations so badly, do you really think Carter would have bothered?

16. None of the Iran embassy hostages was beheaded.

Carter put their safety above his political career. He negotiated without posturing. And in the end, all the hostages came home safely.

5. Let me do a little figuring...
I remember seeing the winners of 4 presidential elections last night. That's 3 more presidential elections than anyone named Bush ever won.

8. And the Pubs are WINNERS? Gimme a break, just one look at their loser
President and Loser Dream Team and we can see the truth.

Bush sat on his ass for 8 friggen months doing shit about terrorism... this after offered a H/R Commission report 2 1/2 years in the making...re how to deal with Terrorism in America... then the Aug Meeting with direct warnings of a Clear and Present danger...."Watch my drive" is what we got after he continues his vacation.

Their losing record speak for itself.... THEY are the losers. They are the ones who voted for the First Dufus. And now, their sons and daughters face the consequences in Irag as more coffins return weekly.

Loser? Its the Pubs and their misled sheep.
