Saddam stand trial?

Enough people speculated that Saddam wouldn't survive to stand trial. Looks like their laying the groundwork!

2. Offing the fake Saddam

...this makes perfect sense in light of the fact that the Saddam in custody may not be the real Saddam.

Ever wonder what happened to all those doppelganger Saddams? Remember when the talking heads were wondering how we'd know if we REALLY got him? And when's the last time we've heard ANY talk of the doubles?

According to reporter Joe Vialls--admittedly a controversial sort--the Saddam in custody ain't the real McCoy. He's convincing.

The photos shot by CNN at the hearing last month don't compare to the official Saddam photos. Especially troubling is the dramatically different lower teeth. The real Saddam has perfectly straight teeth while ole' Spider-hole Saddam has a ruggedly crooked lower tooth line.

Another, earlier story in Pravda reported that Saddam's wife recognized him as an imposter immediately after being reunited with him after the capture. That died down--perhaps because the authorities winked at her and told her the real Saddam was either dead or comfortably resting in Monaco?

Someone needs to look at this quickly before they off "Shaddam" and the matter is, like so many, swept under the neo-con rug.

don't you wonder where all the doubles went? and why the * folks and the media don't talk about them anymore?

I have no idea about Vialls credibility but his photographic evidence is intriguing. With the * gang anything is possible. So I go forward every day and do not accept what's served up at face value.

Too many reasons not to.

needs writers . . . that tale about the "grassy knoll" has earned him plenty . . . maybe Vialls saw one too many Stone movies? eh?

6. turns out there were never any doubles, it was all bullshit.

Google it up, there were some stories completely discrediting the "Saddam Clones" theory - they never really had any credible information on that to begin with.

You might be able to get a guy with a moustache who looks vaguely like him from a distance, but the idea of "Multiple Saddams" is straight out of a comic book.

7. i wouldn't be so fast to dismiss the idea of doubles

first thing: i'm only interested in the truth. i'd much rather believe the media, than not. however, all of us here know that it's healthier to question than accept, especially anything with *'s fingerprints on it.

that said, i took your challenge and went off to google land and didn't find much of anything recent or definitive. major media discussion seems to end sometime during 2003. if you have a good link, please provide.

i went further, to our old friend snopes.com, and found this relative to the famous spider hole capture photographs:

We haven't come across any strong reasons to doubt the authenticity of this photograph. The appearance of Saddam in this picture matches how he looked when he was taken into custody, the photograph shows no obvious signs of manipulation (other than the deliberate blurring of the pictured soldier's face), and even Pentagon officials have admitted that "soldiers may have had a camera with them."

Update: An unblurred version of this photo has since surfaced, as has a series of photographs depicting Saddam Hussein's capture:

We're leaving this one as "undetermined" for now in hopes of gleaning more information about the identities of the photographer(s) and the persons pictured.

so, the answer is: maybe we have him. which means, maybe we don't.

again, i welcome proof or something definitive that indicates the real Saddam is in custody.

meantime, i'll keep an open mind and suggest everyone else do the same.
