Bill Maher - Tune In, Turn On and Decide
http://www.latimes.com/news/opinion/commentary/la-oe-maher30jul30,1,3067822.story?coll=la-news-comment-opinions

"The media treat these conventions as if they're pointless interruptions of their real job, which is covering the Scott Peterson trial. No drama, no excitement.

Hey, you know what's exciting? It's exciting when politicians get drunk with power because people aren't keeping an eye on them. That's when the high jinks really begin: Who expected we'd invade Iraq because of 9/11? Unpredictable, whoo!

And by the way, it's good that these conventions are "produced." "Produced" is good. I like the produced version of the "Let It Be" album better. It's good that someone produces my show, and when I find out who it is, I'm gonna shake his hand! It's good when you produce a date: Most women like it when their boyfriends pick the restaurant and make the reservations. The postwar in Iraq is something that could have used a little more production value."

Good stuff!

1. Bill Maher is on a roll lately- can't wait to see him on HBO tonight
He is so right. Just think how the Dems would have been slammed if their convention was disorganized or poorly timed. So instead, the Dems are being criticized for being too organized! Howard Fineman slammed Kerry on Imus this morning saying that Kerry rushed his speech and the Dems shouldn't have been so obsessed with him finishing at 10:55 since Kerry should have known that all the networks would have still covered him even if he ran over 20 minutes behind schedule. Who is Fineman kidding? He would have been in the forefront of those bashing Kerry if Kerry had talked until 11:20!

Matt Lauer on the Today show this morning was conducting a lengthy interview with an expert on the Kobe Bryant case, instead of covering any of the important issues of the day. At least the Michael Jackson case is being postponed until next year so we don't have to hear about it every day too before elections.

I made a copy to keep it as a reference when I e-mail those super rich jerks reporting on TV.
