FLORIDA: LePore's hanging chad
LePore's hanging chad

By Palm Beach Post Editorial

Sunday, December 05, 2004

When she leaves office next month, Theresa LePore officially will have
worked 356 months for the public. That number is a bit of a problem
for her.

The public fired Ms. LePore in August, when Palm Beach County voters
chose Arthur Anderson to replace her as elections supervisor. Her
difficulty is that Ms. LePore, who makes $121,490 a year, needs 360
months on the job — 30 years — or the annual state pension for which
she qualifies will be much lower. Lacking those extra months, Ms.
LePore will be able to claim less than $30,000 a year. But if she can
snag another job on the public payroll and make it to the magical 360
months, Ms. LePore will be eligible for a $70,000 pension.

Naturally, Ms. LePore has been looking for such a job. She might work
for Palm Beach County State Attorney Barry Krischer as an election
fraud investigator or in some other role. If that doesn't work out,
she might work for the property appraiser, sheriff or clerk of court.

Something is wrong with a system in which four months can mean a
difference of $40,000 a year. Given the weepy tributes she received
last week from her fellow supervisors, Ms. LePore might have 66 other
options to enrich her retirement. But if no one gives her a job, there
still might be another way.

2. IS THIS POETIC JUSTICE OR WHAT?
Despite the harm that Theresa LePore helped create, I do feel sorry for her... In this Bush World that she helped create, a $40,000 short of change in anyone's pocket can make a big difference in how one live's out one's retirement.

The only thing I can say,is, IS THIS POETIC JUSTICE OR WHAT?!!!!!!

3. I thought she already had another job? One of the agencies
was going to pick her up as a consultant for voter fraud. Does anybody know the name of the agency?
