WASHINGTON (AP) - Michael Leavitt, President Bush's choice to be secretary of Health and Human Services, may have to cut billions of dollars from the government's mammoth health programs for the elderly, poor and disabled to pare the budget deficit.

2. We have two neighbors on SS Disability

They're a middle aged couple. The guy is legally blind and can't work construction. She has MS and recently had a stroke leaving her disabled. Neither one has kids worth a damn.

My husband talked to them when they asked about our Dem yard signs. He talked about our concerns for the future of Medicare and Social Security since this would be their issue. But they're Bush supoprters, so the gentle conversation didn't sink in. Folks like this are going to learn the hard way.

4. Bush is out to destroy the safety net that the New Deal and Great

Society created. This has been a goal of Republicans since the 30's and they finally have the power to fuck the poor and they intend to do it now.

the GOP has had the plan for many many years and there are trying to finish it off. What better way to bankrupt our country and kill the poor and elderly.. leaving only the elite GOP and corrupt DLC to rule the world. But, guess what folks... I don't think the rest of the world will let them rule. Pre-emptive war, privatize social security, bankrupt our country... there you have it... if they don't bankrupt social security their final plans will have huge delays.
