MoDo: Christmas Eve of Destruction
Published 12/23/04 in The New York Times

In Iraq, as Yogi Berra would say, the future ain't what it used to be.

Now that the election's over, our leaders think it's safe to experiment with a little candor.

President Bush has finally acknowledged that the Iraqis can't hack it as far as securing their own country, which means, of course, that America has no exit strategy for its troops, who will soon number 150,000.

News organizations led with the story, even though the president was only saying something that everybody has known to be true for a year. The White House's policy on Iraq has gone from a total charade to a limited modified hangout. Mr. Bush is conceding the obvious, that the Iraqi security forces aren't perfect, so he doesn't have to concede the truth: that Iraq is now so dire no one knows how or when we can get out.

If this fiasco ever made sense to anybody, it doesn't any more.

1. One of Maureen's best ever.
With a chilling sting in the tail about voting for theocracy.

2. That sting contains the lie: we didn't vote for it, Diebold did.
Other than that, pretty good.

4. Information, please?
Your issue with Maureen Dowd obviously predates my time at DU. Could you tell me more?
Feel free to send to my mailbox if you don't want to rerun old issues in the forum.
Thanks

7. during the 2000 election she relentlessly trashed Gore
Edited on Fri Dec-24-04 04:07 PM by Skittles
for stuff like the clothes he wore. She made me sick and although I will concede she has written some good anti-Bush stuff in my mind it is too little WAY TOO LATE. She is part of the media that refused to look at the obvious clues that Dubya was simply not qualified to be a dogcather, let alone president of the United States. I have seen some apologies from journalists for their dereliction of duty during the 2000 campaign and until I see one from her I refuse to respect her.

edit correction - after reading Zanti's post below, I now realize I could NEVER respect her; she can rot in hell with all the blood on her hands.

5. Whoreen lied any lie to elect Bush.
Go to Bob Somerby's Daily Howler and check out his archives on this worthless whoring presstitute.

http://www.dailyhowler.com

This whore was among those who sent my only child to die in Iraq. Nothing this cheap sleazy slut does will ever atone for the murder of my son. His blood will be on her hands for the rest of her sleazy worthless life and she will NEVER be able to wash his blood off.

6. "They may choose to live in a theocracy, though. Americans did. "
Her final line nails it down.

The preceding line:

As (Bush) said at his press conference on Monday, "the enemies of freedom" know that "a democratic Iraq will be a decisive blow to their ambitions because free people will never choose to live in tyranny."

9. Because of WHOREEN and HER LIES
Edited on Fri Dec-24-04 07:16 PM by The Zanti Regent
I have an empty chair at my kitchen table.

It will remain empty. The only person that can fill it lies in the Los Angeles VA cemetery.

In a little while his stepmother and I will try to eat, but it will be difficult.

We tried to talk to our boy today, both of us broke down and cried. We looked at the empty spaces in the cemetery, they're going fast because of the sick psychotic assholes who have bent swastikas into crosses.

Whoreen thought she was so prissy, so smug to piss on Al Gore every chance she did. Such a fucking self-centered snot.

That snot put a hole in my heart that will never heal. F her and F the god-damned SCREW YORK TIMES and the worthless WHORESHINGTON POST for killing my only child. I want a draft to come. I want these presstitutes forced to put THEIR children on the line, and I especially want to see those Trash Twinz and that snotty George P Bush drafted and put on the front lines. I want Noelle Bush drafted too, put that junky on the front lines close to all that Afghani heroin.

And I want EVERY member of Congress, Every Judge, Every appointed officials' children drafted irregardless of age. I want the children of ALL so-called preachers drafted too and put on the front lines. I want the parliament of whores to feel the hurt that I feel. I want those liars who wear the crosses on their sleeves to feel the same pain too. I want to see the look on Pat Robertson's face when his son dies.

A Merry Christmas to them all in the name of Jesus!

10. You blame her?
Well, I'm sorry for your loss, but I don't think the buck can be passed to her. This is Bush's war, and the blood is on his hands.

I hope you find a way to heal.

If there were something tangible that I could do, I would do it. Please know that I grieve for those like you, on a daily basis. This war has ripped me up inside, as well. I am so sincerely sorry.

13. Zanti is right ot blame her. It's the worthless press
in this country who refuse to speak out who are as guilty as Bush.

Bush is a madman, but he could never have prevailed if it wasn't for our traitorous media.

14. Casting blame does nothing to help the situation.
There is nothing to be gained from it, and only more to lose.

15. Will you say that if death comes to your children?
Until it hits you personally, you have no clue how that hurt feels.

The only thing I can say is that I have no more children to give to the Jesusista war machine. My only child died for nothing and the Judith Milers, Daniel Okrents, William Saffliars, Nicholas Kristoffs, Whoreen Dowds, David Brooks, Tom Friedmans, Adam Nagourneys and their ilk who engaged in this Christian Conspiracy are getting away with it because they hide behind the cross. Even now they are conspiring with their Nazi Republican pals to kill more boys and girls in Iran and Syria.

Where is John Kerry? Did he make the Bonesman deal with Bush? I want to know why he has not asked whose child will be the last to die in this mistake? I demand an answer from him!

If the Democrats go back to putting on the Pink Thongs and laying down for the Nazis, I am through with them. I will work to take California out of Jesusland. I see no other option to stop these Jesusistas from killing more innocent children in the name of their perverted cult!

16. If my child died in Iraq,..
I would hold Bush accountable as the war criminal that he is. Just as I do now. My philosophy regarding blame casting does not change with circumstance, no matter how harsh. Beliefs aren't worth much when they are only applied conveniently. Or if they change with emotion. Hate and blame are self-destructive and not productive. Suit yourself, but don't expect me to agree with you.

17. Well, Indigo, I guess we will have to agree to disagree.
Someone has to man the battlements, and in a democracy, that includes the media. The sheeple go to the MSM in order to be told what to think. When that MSM includes the likes of Rush, O'Reilly and the whores on CNNNBCABCCBS, is it any wonder that there is so much support for War Criminal Bush? How can we expect things to get better when we have essentially no way to get the truth out?

Of course Bush, et al, are war criminals and they should burn in hell for 100 eternities. But when the final eulogy is said for what was once our beautiful country, the media will have to share the...yes, blame, for its demise.

Sometimes people and institutions are to blame for things, and I don't think it's destructive to say so. When I look at some of those who call themselves "journalists" on TV and hear them promoting Bushco talking points, I can only feel contempt. They are not stupid people. They know what the truth is. And yet they choose to give us lies. For what? So their children can go to private schools? So they can continue to drive their $$$ cars and live in their million $$ houses? Yes...I hold them accountable. Which is another way of saying "I blame them."

And BTW; To Zanti: I am so sorry for your loss, and I cannot imagine the depth of pain you are feeling.

18. I'm willing to do battle...
and often do with the vagaries of this twisted world. But, I feel it is important to recognize productive and destructive motivations. I intellectually recognize where the blame rests, but I try not to actively blame in an emotional sense.

Wiser men than I have warned about this sort of thing. Sometimes, I trust in those admonitions more than I do my own urges. As I do in this case.

It better serves the army of good to cultivate a deeply positive force in the fight against the cultivators of lies and deceit, hate and blame. We'll never beat them at their own game. IMHO

Bush would never had been considered a viable candidate if the press had done their f***ing jobs. Maureen was in full whore mode in 2000 and she has blood on her hands, as do they all.
