Great Helen Thomas Interview from Aussie tv - just aired.
TV show down under called "Enough Rope" had Helen Thomas via satellite as a special guest....

<snip>
Andrew Denton: We approached you much earlier this year, at the outbreak of the Iraq war to come and talk to us, and you declined, saying that if you did, it would get you into too much trouble. What's changed now?

Helen Thomas: (Laughs) Nothing.

LAUGHTER AND APPLAUSE

Andrew Denton: What was it you wouldn't say then?

Helen Thomas: The world goes on. The world goes on whether I observe it or not.

Andrew Denton: What was it you wouldn't say then that you're prepared to say now?

Helen Thomas: I…I just think that, uh, any nation that goes to war, there is certainly a climate and atmosphere — everyone is supposed to rally around the flag, no matter what they think. I mean, you close ranks and…I've been alive for several wars, and I must say that World War II, there was never any dissent. There was, except for conscientious objectors, where people really felt the necessity — the need to give their lives, make the ultimate sacrifice and so forth.

So I think you'd like to have that sense in the country and I think that this is a very divisive system of…of pre-empting a war on the assumption that somebody might hurt you. You don't really act like that, and if we did, everybody…we would be a jungle.
