Bush/Cheney 04: "A blind man in a room full of deaf people."

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Former U.S. Treasury Secretary Paul O'Neill likened President Bush at Cabinet meetings to "a blind man in a room full of deaf people," according to excerpts on Friday from a CBS interview.

O'Neill, who was fired by Bush in December 2002, also said the president did not ask him a single question during their first one-on-one meeting, which lasted an hour.

"As I recall it was just a monologue," he told CBS' "60 Minutes," which will broadcast the entire interview on Sunday...

"There is no discernible connection," CBS quoted O'Neill as saying. The president's lack of engagement left his advisers with "little more than hunches about what the president might think," O'Neill said, according to the program.

2. That's what happens
when you try to be a CEO instead of a president. And a bad CEO at that.

4. When I first read that...
I thought they meant that 60 Minutes was going to broadcast O'Neill and Bush's first one-on-one meeting in its entirety. It would take up the whole show, but that I'd like to see! I can just imagine the worry lines appearing on Bush's brow every time O'Neill said a hard word.

5. CBS is taking a stab at revenge for the Reagan mini-series?
They might be the channel to watch this year.

6. I would not be surprised if something "happened" and CBS delays
or cancels this episode of 60 Minutes. Just do not be surprised.

9. Paul's local NPR station just got done with Pro-Bush spinning...
WDUQ - Pittsburgh just announced the book was out, was critical of Bush and then, without saying one thing about what was in the book, said that a local political expert doubts it will have much impact on the pResident's political campaign. Double-plus good spin.

10. Typical questions bush might have asked O'Neill about the Treasury:
"How many pennies does it take, to make a BIG bunch??"
"Is my tax refund check over there (in the Treasury)??"
"How much would a war cost?"
"Since you are Secretary of the Treasury, do you have to count the money?" "Or make coffee for the guy who does?"
"Can you put my face on the 25 dollar bill?"
