1. I'm curious about the whole thing
My suspicion is that the 28 pages has info about Smirk and his buddies business connections with the bin Laden family and Smirk spiriting some bin Laden family members out of the country before they could be questioned after 9/11.

Who knows?

Would love to hear what others suspect.

3. Could the secret pages be embarrassing to Israel?

The Saudis wouldn't mind that at all, but if anything in the pages could embarrass the sharon regime, don't look for any leaks from congress!

8. Noone on the investigative committee has even
mentioned Israel in those 28 pages. Where did you EVER get that idea - or is it wishful thinking?

16. No one would dare to leak it, now would they?

The last congressperson who strayed too far from the Gary Bauer rapture ready Israel first doctrine was Cynthia McKinney.

My point is that if Israel is mentioned in those pages, they will never be leaked by anybody. Do you disagree?

12. I believe you have struck the spike upon its cranium:
The Saudis make a "show" of asking for the information to exculpate themselves, and by prior arrangement, Shrub declines for reasons of "ongoing investigation" and "national security". So they both have plausible deniability. Quid pro quo.

30. Exactly. The Saudis want it suppressed, and tell their employee Bu$h*
Edited on Tue Jul-29-03 07:46 PM by Vitruvius
to do the dirty work and take the heat, while they act like they have nothing to hide.

And Bu$h*, like a good little hireling, does what he's told.

Vitruvius

P.S: By-the-way, as DUers know, the bin Laden family was among the Saudis who financed Bu$h*'s failed oil companies. Wonder what else Bu$h* was told to do...

14. Exactly my thoughts
the entire Bush family has spent far too much time in the middle east building business and friendships. I'm really beginning to lean towards MIHOP and I used to be a logical person.

26. Molly, you are becoming logical
With all the coverup and misleading and 'luck' which ensued from 9/11, a logical thinker can come to only one conclusion. Somebody is trying real hard to hide the truth. That 'somebody' is responsible for what happened.

Ya know who my favorite republican is these days? Shelby of Alabama. He's been saying the People need to read the whole thing except for a few items. It floors the awol's defenders when they hear that one of their own has escaped the shepered's flock!

I can't believe someone in the press won't see this "one hand washes the other" angle. Looks to me like the Bushies played it.

this same thing has crossed my mind as well
but I wonder if it is actually info that the Saudi's feel they can easily "explain" away as did a diplomat's wife (way back) with the feeble excuse that it was "charity" to assist some implicated Al Qu'eda drone.

As for deadly info connecting Bush and friends-===do you REALLY think that THIS committee and their lame investigation came up with damaging info on him and PUT IT IN the report????? I sure don't.

Israel. Ambiguity is Good!

It doesn't matter, since presumably we won't see the Forbidden Pages til 2033.

As usual, the media, NPR included, are simply repeating the official story line, as though they've been lobotomized.

Makes for good PR. They already have an agreement with the PNAC/Skull & Bones/Carlyle cabal.

Hope you are not sure of that because that is what Bush's minions have leaked to the media? Could be the Sauidis? Could be the Saudis along with someone else too? Curious minds want to know.

I doubt that any of the info are really news for us (re:SA), besides what we already knew. The only thing that is classified is BUSH KNEW.

15. How bad can it be? All the members of the intelligence committees
of both houses have seen the full report. If it was a bombshell, I have a feeling something would have leaked out by now. I dunno, it may not be that big of a deal. On the other hand, who knows?

23. Saw interesting spec at Atrios' blog today...
Maybe it references Saudi pre-9/11 intel warnings that were ignored?

I kinda doubt it, but, shucks, I can't bet at the Pentagon casino anymore anyway.
