Tweety: Shrub "Went Along Unthinkingly" with Hawks
Edited on Tue Jul-08-03 06:30 PM by UTUSN
After hearing Rahm EMMANUEL and another guest lay out the case for Shrub LIED he said, "Rahm, you've worked in the WH, I've worked in the WH. Here's what I think happened: Some hawk like (the Libby(sp) guy in CHEENEE's shop), came in with the story and (Shrub) WENT ALONG WITH IT UNTHINKINGLY."

In the next segment, SHARPTON said that if it were the CLINTON Administration, there would be a frenzy for impeachment.

About "bring'em on" - Tweety says it's JUST part of Shrub's personality, cowboy charm. Tweety, tweety, tweety.

1. Well
He "WENT ALONG WITH IT UNTHINKINGLY." If that's the case, he is too incompetent to be president. How much longer will these enablers continue to make excuses!

3. Does he do any thing "Thinkingly"?
 Tweety didn't disappoint me. Bush* himself can do no wrong. Someone else made Bush* say it.

2. It's an Unthinking Presidency
Let's just suppose for a minute that Matthews is right, that Bush unthinkingly went along with the plan. How does that, in any way, exonerate Bush? It would indicate to me that world-changing decisions are being made by a puppet with no facility for critical thinking, someone who acts purely on emotions. In Matthews' eyes, is this somehow preferable to Bush knowing he's lying?

Also, when "cowboy charm" starts getting people killed on a daily basis, it's time to shelve said cowboy charm, shut the hell up, and do something useful.

I'm just not at all impressed by filth being the apologist for other filth.

6. Stop Babying Bush
We've all made a terrible mistake calling him stupid, a puppet, slacker, etc. While he certainly is being led by those under him, he is not doing it without his full cooperation. If the man is not thinking about the information that takes a country into war, then the man should not be in the White House at all. I think he full well knew what he was doing and did it knowingly and willingly. I don't want him to get away with this because the "poor dumb man was misled" by the big bad bullies.

...he can take care of himself. If you're going to be the President of the world's most powerful nation then you should be prepared for the job. I have no sympathy for him!

7. But . . . he was supposed to surround himself with
intelligent advisors! Remember? Even Tweety said as much before the election.

Du'er "Az" mentioned it in another thread too: They gave Bush a pass in the run up to the election because he would surround himself with good and experienced advisors.

Well, look what has happened. He's been led along by the nose by his advisors and we are all f*cked over because of it.

9. Went along unthinkingly, huh?
Except that when they didn't come up with the info he wanted, he got pissed and told them to get somebody who could. Sure Shrub's not a big thinker, but that sounds to me like he was telling them what he wanted, not just going along. I hate to get my hopes up, but this is getting good.

12. think of the patent absurdity
...of such an explanation. The *resident misleads to war unthinkingly.

This is not consistent with the neocon notion that lying and deception are essential in leading the uncouth masses who can't possibly understand something like foreign policy.

As Lewis Lapham said last night on Jon Stewart show, the people in power have contempt for the American people. Did Cheney do it "unthinkingly" as well? What about Powell?

13. Now with FINEMAN and BLANKLEY
Tweety, "Nothing gets into the SotU if it's not signed off on by the NSC, the VP's office, the CIA..."

FINEMAN, "No indication that the pResident knew. (Shrub) has made his (niche) as a straight-shooter."

BLANKLEY, "I don't think he misled."

Tweety, "If they lied to HIM, he should be (PISSED)."

BLANKLEY, "Everybody outside D.C. is INDIFFERENT to this (Beltway) debate."

FINEMAN, "The pRESIDENT should be upset about it."

Tomorrow?-------Dan COULTER!

Next, OLBERMAN, "Weapons of mis-direction" - "No longer an issue whether" the WMD thing was WRONG, "now a matter of whether OMISSION, (ignorance) or COMMISSION."

So actually Andrea MITCHELL was on this story on Sunday's MTP?

15. Isn't that a redundant redundancy?
Does the dunderheaded nazibot truly parse anything in that pachinko device in his head?

I can't wait to see him in a debate with Edwards...

Then on the stand...

He's going to be so deeply hated; the only ones who like him will hate him when his idiocy loses them the keys to the kingdom. Sad. I can't wait.

26. My Local Radio Wingnut's Reply to Capitol Blue Article
******QUOTE*****
Wingnut's reply to article: I just saw a clip of Blair before their investigating committee saying that while the documents were forged they had separate intelligence that, if my memory is right, Iraq had tried another time to secure uranium. As for "lying" one can lie only if one intends to deceive. If one is blithe about the truth or utters something he belivees to be true but it turns out to be false, that's not lying. I don't think his detractors have proved he knowingly used information ne knew to be false. I do think they are building a case for a stupendous screw-up and, maybe, seeing what they wanted to see

***********My reply to him:
Well, we all see what we want to see, no? Did you read the part where the source said Shrub was TOLD the info was not solid and he was ANGRY and told them to make it right or find somebody else who WOULD? What is it about Shrub that puts him ABOVE all standards and accountability in the eyes of his followers? By the way, this story was broken on the networks by Andrea MITCHELL on Meet the Press and so far is being talked about on all of the cable yak shows, although mostly with the tack you take, that poor dear Shrub could not have - gasp - MISLED us. Please. The question is, is this going to be rugged-over like everything else?

I remember riding a bus down from college during the end o'NIXON days. An elderly lady and I started discussing and she said, "Well. I just don't BELIEVE that President NIXON would lie about this."

With the books piling up, documenting the Vast Right Wing Conspiracy, the standard line in your media is that the CLINTONs have not faced up to their responsibility. The few books on this I have belatedly read, TOOBIN's A Vast Conspiracy, BROCK's Blinded by the Right, and BLUMENTHAL's The Clinton Wars - WITHOUT A DOUBT document the dirty tricks going on, besides (congrats) the Wingnut achievement in building an infrastructure (grandpa William SIMON) of media and think tanks.

Y'all (I'm including YOU, "with-us/against-us") SET OUT to undermine and dismantle a legitimately elected president, completely hog-tied and embarrassed him (tho history will shame YOU), and then proceeded to pull a coup in the next election. And you are covering for this despicable fraud now. Shame on all of you.

27. There is such a thing as guilt without direct intent.
It's pretty clear at this point that if anyone -- Bush, the senators, the press, anyone -- really claims to have "not known" the case on Iraq was bogus, it can only be because they didn't want to know. They put on blinders of willful ignorance, because reality was inconveniently not conforming to their expectations.

In a mundane criminal case, this could be considered "depraved human indifference" -- a degree of non-action considered as malicious or deplorable as an active intent to commit a crime.
