O'Neil's Bomb: Wouldn't the BFEE have known this was coming?
...ever since O'Neil left the white house? How could they expect that he would NOT spill the beans at some point? And that it would have huge repurcussions for Chimp's bogus war?

Frankly, why haven't they had him offed before now?

Hard as I try not to be, I remain naive about how in the hell these lowlifes blithely get away with this shit.

1. They don't have to bump him off when they can discredit him instead.
Look for the "O'Neill is a liberal conspiracy theorist" sound-bite in the media in the next few weeks...There's lots of footage of him with Bono (a liberal) lyin' around, after all.......

3. Remember Hitler and what he said about the Armenian Genocide
When his insiders worried about the extermination of Jews in Europe Hitler's response was (something like): "Who remembers the Armenian Genocide?"

Basically, people are just too damn comfortable or , in the alternative, preoccupied with the struggle to survive, to care about things like mass murder and corporate fascism.

Things ARE changing, ever so slightly. And this election will be a referendum on the Americans will to Democracy.

If WE cannot win this election, then we are LOST as a people and as a Democracy. The grand experiment has failed and the fascist corporatists have won.

I think Bono rubbed off a little humanity on this guy - who the BFEE figured would be another corporo-fascist team player.

Occasionaly there IS redemption for these bastards and O'Neill is a grand heroic example.

Thanks to Bono for converting him too!

5. I agree completely
We were talking about the same thing this morning. Bono took O'Neil to see the holocaust in Africa and O'Neil was never the same. I'm sure it has haunted him since. No real Irishman could turn his back after "living" the suffering of the African people.

7. You sure about Bono converting him?
I seem to recall Bono making comments that he couldn't believe out utterly lacking in basic human compassion O'Neill displayed, and he was appalled at how someone could look at the situation in Afica and be so totally apathetic.

I could be remembering wrong, but I think I am right on this one.

4. There was an AP (?) story about the WH being concerned about coming
books that someone posted last week. I wish I could find it, because it insinuated that they felt they could discredit O'Neil, but that there is another one due to come out very soon that they felt they had more to fear. Can anyone find that article or that post? I wish I'd paid more attention, but can't find it on search now. What is that other book?

9. I've read that a 'whole slew' of books have come out
recently, and they're all critical of the Bush administration. There was one book in particular that was supposed to be VERY informative; gave the inside scoop on all kinds of dirty dealings at the White House and also international figures.

The book was posted in 'Meeting Room' under one of Spiral Hawk's threads. Will try to find it.

6. If all O'Neil was going to do is go on a few talk shows,
I think the Bushites felt they could easily discredit him with the usual RW screaming. But he has a book coming out and 19,000 supporting documents he is making available to journalists. I think this will be a big boost for his credibility, especially if we can get journalists to actually start writing stories about the stuff they find in the 19,000 pages.
