Iraq's oil assets seen less attractive |
|
Before the U.S.-led invasion of Iraq, global oil companies were eagerly competing to win lucrative contracts to develop the country’s undeveloped reserves — the second largest in the world, behind Saudi Arabia. But as U.S. and Iraqi officials begin to draw the outlines of the country’s post-Saddam oil industry, the treasure has lost some of its luster. Ongoing guerilla attacks, shipping bottlenecks and damage to the underground oil reservoirs themselves have created major headaches for anyone hoping for a piece of a once-hoped-for Iraqi oil boom.http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/3908685/

1. Apparently they are still sufficiently attractive to the regime |

to continue the colonization project.

2. Such a good reply, DTF. |

So the Iraqi "treasure" turns out to be a little more effort than they thought it would be, eh?
We've already sacrificed 500 lives, untold thousands of Iraqi citizens, and we've spent what? 200 billion on this project? So you can see how much we value this colony. And according to Rumsfeld, we've got a LONG way to go before we start to worry.
I think at this point, we've spent too much and there's no going back. I'm sure the BFEE would not want any other countries to get their hands on it.
So they'll hang on, month after month, the slow trickle of deaths will keep appearing on Yahoo news. Our treasury will be hemorraging money to the tune of $3.9 billion per month, just to stay there.
BUT -- they're hanging on by their claws, aren't they?

is only "other" people's money anyway. This vile war costs "them" nothing. We, the people of the US and Iraq and the planet are the ones who pay.
