1. caught the very end, where they reran quote from yesterday |
|
about how he was a goofball back then; nobody listened to him then, and why should anyone listen to him now?
Well......if that was the case then, and Bush READILY admits he gets ALL his news from his aides (so that means, by extension, that he doesn't do ANY thinking for himself), that he's completely captive to his advisors.
and if he appoints such TERRIBLE advisers, to whom he doesn't even listen, what does that say about his exective ability, hence his capability as a judge of men, as a leader?
in other words, he's a miserable failure

2. CBS only showed the cover letter, not the secret document. |
|
Suskind never saw the secret doc, either. I had to laugh when I heard today that O'Neill had been given the docs in question by the Treasury Dept. lawyers!

15. I have had this thought lingering in the back of my mind all day |
|
that maybe, just maybe, these news organizations and politicians want to read the book before they come out for or against O'Neill. The motives could vary. Maybe they want to see what kind of evidence (i.e. papers) are included to see if they are relevent or credible. I don't know. It just seems like this story is to big to just fade away and maybe they want to see the evidence before they start questioning *. You know, have all their ducks in a row before they go after him.
What will be the global implications of this story once the truth is out? Will anybody care?

12. Yeah! And also, the word "secret" is within the memo itself, there is no |
|
evidence it was actually ever classified as such. All "secret" documents I ever saw in the USAF had big red rubber-stamped identification as such all over them. But all this brouhaha of whether they actually -were- 'secret' is far from germane to the ultimate truth. I'm no constitutional lawyer, but it seems to me that given almost anything can be placed into the 'secret' box, if it is done to obscure a crime, it shouldn't be protected from disclosure.

8. ABC also said he dodged "simple and direct question" about Iraq |
|
Edited on Mon Jan-12-04 06:45 PM by buycitgo
ABC says that their strategy is to ignore as much of story as possible, and hope it goes away
they also quoted someone from the admin, saying ONeill is "a bitter man," BUT, ABC said, they DID not refute a single thing ONeill said.
very fairly done story by ABC, in comparison to the others.
NBC ran another vicious quote, meaner than the CBS one, of which I only caught a glimpse; something about off the wall, inappropriate comments, or something like that......very nasty stuff.......hadn't seen that one yet

13. you are correct! on all counts |
|
I taped the ABC story, and you got it on the money.
ALSO, and VERY importantly they quoted this guy--> James Steinberg, WJC Deputy NatSec Advisor, word for word:
"We did NOT have a plan to use American ground troops to overthrow, uh, the regime of Saddam Hussein."
So THERE!
now, all they have to do is compare what Clinton's actual plans were with what the kleptos were forumulating
shouldn't be all that difficult
