Safe to say that DLC Dems are totally in the flush-file, and to them I say adios, assholes.
On edit: Follow the links as posted to get to the Federal Election Commission Query site; and enter Michael Steinhardt's name...

Former DLC and PPI chairman. This topic came up in an earlier thread, here's some article excerpts I posted there: Steinhardt chaired the DLC for six years but left in 1996 in disgust, not over Whitewater or women, but because in his first two years in office, according to Steinhardt, Bill Clinton "went wandering back to his historic, ultra-left-wing home"...
...
As a self-styled contrarian who grew up in a "very liberal" Brooklyn household, Steinhardt voted for Barry Goldwater in 1964, couldn't bear John Lindsay, and only started inching leftward when Richard Nixon came along. When Al From launched the DLC in the 1980s, a relationship seemed natural. "Steinhardt liked things like the earned-income tax credit," From said. "You know, no one who works full-time ought to be poor. He always used to come around to that principle."
...
...And though he likes to debate ideas, he seems to have little interest in politicians, and little taste for politics. He claims he didn't cast a vote in the 2000 presidential election, but he speaks glowingly of Bush's presidency...
...
It may be premature to say that what these "velvet conservatives" are doing with The New Republic and the Sun will become something bigger; on the other hand, it's already something bigger than it was this time last year. Hertog, Steinhardt, Peretz, and Lipsky have the money, the acumen, and the forums to do whatever they wish. "I'm not sure this represents anything more than these two guys getting together to do something," said Weekly Standard editor William Kristol, a friend of Hertog's for a decade. "But yeah, the tectonic plates are due for a shift, and there's a reform Republicanism that can marry up fairly comfortably with the sort of center-right Democrat."

...this is certainly shocking...NOT...
That's why I find this all so absurd. Ordinary Americans political allegiances can be as morphous as the shifting sands. Why do we think that these DLC folk have any real "loyalty" to the Democratic base? Why are "former Democratic pollsters" like Luntz allowed to occupy positions in circles of talking heads as if they were speaking for the Democratic party? Why do we give a F*CK what Al From has to say? These people follow the scent of the green, and right now its firmly up the ass of the shrubbery. Like most people, they will say whatever it takes to keep their pockets padded, and make their lives more comfortable. They aren't altruistic, they aren't democratic, they aren't even all that pragmatic. These left-right paradigms have only served as a mechanism for people like this guy to ply his trade in aquiring corporate cash on one hand, and the sheepishly devoted votes on the other...and never the twain shall meet...
Maximum legally permissible contribution to the most radical right wing Administration in recent history...
Perhaps someone should speak to these DLC folks about the company they choose to keep, no pun intended of course...

have to sign a loyalty oath? I had to sign one for my county Dem. leadership commitee. I would think at this level it would be mandatory as well. Perhaps loyalty has no meaning for them.
