Martin Luther Kings Birth observed today |
|
Edited on Mon Jan-19-04 11:01 AM by Bluzmann57
Obviously its Iowa caucus day, but more importantly, it's the observance of the late, great Martin Luther King's birth. Speaking as a caucasian, I may not fully appreciate the impact that he had on American society, but it was deep and profound and is still being felt today and forever. Just listening to his notable speeches still can send a chill up one's spine, especially when one realizes what things were like in America in the '60's. It was a time of great change, due in large part to Dr. King's activism. So let us remember this great man today and always and keep working for positive changes in America's attitudes toward racial and economic justice.

This is a man who peacefully did the impossible--he helped institute change when all the odds were against him. I understand more now than I did 3 years ago. Trying to fight against the injustices of Bushco has made my admiration, understanding and appreciation of what a truly great man Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was grow significantly. He's one of the greatest men to ever walk on this planet.

2. What would MLK have to say about shrub? |
|
I think he would be denouncing the way bushco's pathetocracy subverts democracy around the world.
But wait, considering what happened to voters in Florida, I'd like to think that he would have led a movement to recognize those disenfranchized voters, and shame our government into allowing the duly elected Al Gore to take his seat in the west wing of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.
