American just make too damn much money. |
|
Thats why all the high paying jobs are being exported overseas and cheap labor is being imported into America. That can be the only explanation for big business leaving America and silly politicians like bush* and his cronies and DINO's silence on the subject. We may not recognize America in 10 years. Hell I hardly recognize it now.

They are turning this into a third world country so the ruling class can continue without interruption. We are now competing with labor all over the world and our standard of living is falling.

... that we go back to the old days when workers simply had to accept what the 'boss' wanted to pay them, and could actually be murdered for attempting to 'organize' and protect their rights?
The problem is that corporate types generally have no conscience at all (never mind a social conscience), and think nothing of putting thousands out of work to boost profits for shareholders and themselves.

3. The sad thing is it is much worse than even you think |
|
I work in a company that has been dealing in offshoring, and have listen to some seminars about offshoring that nearly made me vomit.
One speaker said that not only can you get cheap labor in China, but they speak better english than most American workers!
Gag!

You have to start forming cooperative businesses to compete with the mega-corps. In this way the profits are spread among the workers not Wall Street. You will have to work hard to undersell them and run them out of town. It has to start somewhere.

You complain about people in the U.S. making too much money and in your post you show a very expensive playtoy that is primarily popular in the U.S. A new Harley can cost more than an Accord.

11. And yet when they do get cheap labor the products are still the same price |
|
Yep,you go from paying someone $10.00 per hour down to $10.00 per week, yet those exact same products will still have the same price tag at the store after the jobs have been shipped out.

12. How much Americans over-extend themselves is a bigger problem! |
|
Average debt owed, excluding the home mortgages, is something like 18K avg per household, the highest it's ever been.
Starting at kids with all their damned $150 sneakers or they won't fit in, to a housing market where the only new homes are 3000 sqft+ mansions, America has become far too numb to overspending and have no problem burying themselves in bottomless debt.
Housing especially bothers me, I grew up in a tiny house, where one of the bedrooms was the attic, with angled low ceilings, and all us kids turned out fine. Now every damned house is a 3000 sqft castle. No new splits or ranches anywhere on the map.
Don't even get me started on how much 4 year private colleges get away with charging these days. 100 year old ivy covered buildings and a competent teaching staff can't possibly cost 30K per kid per year to run. State schools are still reasonable.

13. currency weighted value |
|
Just wait until we reach yen parity (means 1 dollar == 1 yen) There will be plenty of cheap jobs shipped to america from japan.
If the dollar reaches pence partity (means 1 dollar = .01 sterling) There will be plenty of cheap jobs shipped to america from Britain
Hell, if the neocon's keep it up, we'll reach parity with romanian Lei... which is worth today less than half a penny... then we'll get lots of jobs from eastern europe.
The whole scam is currency arbitrage... just wait.

than meets the eye. I thought China has been playing an internationally frowned upon balancing game with the dollar for some time, to ensure a continual flow of products to the US, and cash back to them.

You're kidding, right? One yen equal to one dollar? That hasn't happened since the early Meiji Era (1870s-1890s), when the newly created yen was pegged one-to-one to the US dollar. Today, the Japanese economy would collapse long before the yen approached such a valuation.

24. case studies of currency collapse... |
|
show that even appearantly stable nations, when put in to bankruptcy by their leaders (see BFEE) can discover new levels of inflation and currency value (see weimar republic).
Your post presmes the status quo... i merely hypothecate differently.... actually the most abusrd is parity to the romanian lei if you're going to pick comments... as it is at ridiculous levels against the dollar, and to consider parity would mean a total bankruptcy of america and massive dollar inflation.
Of course this will never happen... wink wink.. nudge nudge. :)
Don't buy gold or euro's... you'll drive the price up for the rest of us. :)
Yes i'm kidding... at least i hope i am.... but given how the american gov manages money, yen parity is within a betting spread.

21. It's a matter of perspective |
|
I don't think I make too damn much money, but hey, what do I know?
However, I am wondering what you have in mind?
How about....
2. Withdraw from the WTO and develop tailored trade agreements with other nations according to the practices and performance of those countries.
3. Nullify the incentive to relocate manufacturing to low wage regions around the world where the market is the U.S. consumer.
4. Maintain the ability to manufacture or stockpile all products vital to our national security.
5. Advocate a "Buy America" policy that patronizes American made goods. Articles may carry the label "Made in the U.S.A." only when they meet strict requirements for materials content, processing, assembly and packaging. All imported products, including food, are required to bear a label stating Country of Origin.
Something along that line? Worse or better.
