Young Conservative Is the Toast of Talk Radio

Teen claims political harassment after clashes with fellow students over what they call racist writings.

ROHNERT PARK, Calif. — Just before the final bell at Rancho Cotate High School on a recent afternoon, a campus supervisor reported to Principal Mitchell Carter on his walkie-talkie: "I'm in position. Subject in view."
The focus of the extra security was a lanky, blue-eyed, 17-year-old high school junior, Tim Bueler, whose claims of political harassment by "liberal" students and faculty have made him into something of a youth hero among conservative Web bloggers and radio talk show hosts across the country.    

Since the beginning of January, Bueler has been escorted by an adult school official to and from every class and to his father's car at the end of the day. The precaution was ordered by the school district superintendent after several confrontations between Bueler and fellow members of the school Conservative Club, and other students who object to what they claim are "racist" writings in the club's political tracts.

The resulting free speech divide has ruffled feathers and formed fault lines in the 1,900-pupil, predominantly white, middle-class school nicknamed by students "The Ranch."

I have no problem with people being activists. He is over the top, but he's an activist. I'd rather have them than a bunch of kids who don't care at all. The kid deserves a detention or two for posting unauthorized fliers. Who knows, maybe he has been disciplined already.

He has created his own little controversy, and the hate radio people will lap it up like kittens at a saucer of milk.. There is a rightwing book in the offing as well.. He's in it for the money...mark my words.. He will show up on "Hannity & Whipping boy", and after a time, he will come out with his book.. Look for Brian Lamb to feature him on Book Notes.. The title will probably be something like this.. "Standing Up to the Liberal Education Machine"..
I guess every conservo in the US dreams of having their book featured at Pic n Save's bargain book table :)

26. Couple of funny things here

One is that 'the Ranch' is located across an open fence from Sonoma State University, once known as 'Granola U', which is not exactly a hotbed of conservatism. In later years an influx of So Cal refugees may have changed the dynamic. I recently heard it referred to as 'Ivy League West'. When I went there we as students consistently rejected having the military recruiters on campus. Then the Fed stepped in to tell us that without military recruiters we would lose our Federal funding. That funding was essential to pay for our administration. The Prez, Arminana, makes over a quarter mil a year plus free house cars travel and entertaining. He likes to go to frequent the Opera- in Italy. I never once saw a car parked in the offical 'President' space near his office and at one point some freinds and I 'borrowed' it and moved it out by the music building a good half mile away. Quite the investigation ensued.

The other is that I've never known a 17 year old to be independently interested in politics to this extreme. I guess it's a good thing he's involve, if misguided, but I imagine this has more to do with his folks.

Wonder what they discuss at the dinner table? Grades, girls, sports, college plans or the traitorous liberals that brought them awful things like social security?
