WOW !!! photos of SOTU protestors....CBS news photos.....
Edited on Wed Jan-21-04 12:41 AM by amen1234
23 degrees Fahrenheit....10 degrees F. with the wind chill...we STOOD UP for OUR Veterans...while bush* and his minions lied...we read EVERY SINGLE name of Our Soldiers KILLED by bush* Iraq lies....
EVERY SINGLE name...each name read by a different person, some read their brother's or sister's name, their friend's name, their sons or daughter's names, their uncles names...some read names of people they never met...and some read the innocent Iraqi's KILLED by bush* lies (as in: "I stand for 100 innocent Iraqis murdered by the United States of America")....I stood in the back of the microphones holding our theme sign: "Remembering Lives Lost to a LIE".....

10. I believe this...even if the official media does not air the story, the
cops, the bystanders, even the media people and camermen, will go home and tell their families about you...and that's how the word is spreading. I believe that happens all over America. Bush's free speech zones don't stop the message from getting out as much as they want to think it does.

11. we were totally surrounded by police...SS, DC robo-cops....Federal
police...surrounded....seems like bushies think that Veterans and Military Families are some kind of criminals...bush* should have honored the Veterans by inviting them inside as honored guests.....

but we stood strong....it makes me feel good just being around so many brave American Veterans...surrounded by police...yet, you just know that they wouldn't dare arrest us....American Veterans and Military Families....

my cousin was killed in Vietnam....HM3 Navy medic, silver star for valor, purple heart....my nephew is fighting in Iraq as a Marine....my Dad fought in WWII and four of my Uncles, one of my uncles fought two tours in Korea.......

as most military families, the current WAR (?) on iraq shames us all...

18. Thank you for standing up...
wish I could have been there too. I weep in pride and joy at your brave stand and in sorrow at the losses of so many souls for the willful pursuit of death and destruction on a lie.

29. dozens? one person read each name....long long lines at TWO
microphones....at least 502 people to read each name of a DEAD American soldier...and more reading a summary of DEAD Iraqi innocents, mostly in groups of 100 (as in: "I stand for 100 innocent Iraqis KILLED by the United States of America"...with an occasional outburst of 'they did nothing to us'...'may God forgive us'....'they were killed because of bush*'s lies'....

"dozens" certainly underplays the real numbers...plus we had musicians, drummers, and coordinators....I'd estimate about 600 people....it was very cold...about 10 degrees Fahrenheit with the wind-chill...so many huddled together, some stayed warm in cars...we also had the assistance of a US Government Official (a Veteran) who unlocked a government building to let people warm up and use the bathrooms (those Vets have POWER)....so, it may not have looked like 600, but we were all there...at any one time, there were at least 400 people standing in lines for the microphones...

2. What is the logic of the banner message?
Why not update the message?

Kudos to you all! God bless you for standing up for us!

But, we must be talking about present/future.

4. the WAR is still going on...it never has stopped...OUR soldiers are
Edited on Wed Jan-21-04 12:51 AM by amen1234
still dying....every day....

and it seems that the media still won't show the BIG signs....the ones near the microphones....

the big banner titled: LIES
with the exact quote from last years SOTU that started the war....

and the banner across the vehicle that said:
bush* 18 Word LIE..502 American Soldiers lives
thousands of innocent Iraqis murdered

and the theme sign:
"Remembering Lives Lost to a LIE"

but we're glad for the little bit of publicity for OUR dead soldiers....

12. Thank you for standing up
and for sharing it with us, too.

I had seen posts here earlier in the day about this, but sadly this is the only coverage I've seen of the actual event at least on a national level.

I can only hope that someone is editing the footage to for a piece that will be seen by a wider audience than the latest chapter in the * house of lies and hate we saw in tonight's SOTU.

Most of all, thank you for remembering unnecessary loss of so many innocent lives.

15. Martin Luther King would be so proud
The day after his birthday is so appropriate. He would be so pleased to know that the military, vets and their families are now feeling free to tell the truth, and to brave the cold to stand up to the lies.

Thanks so much for sharing those beautiful pictures!

26. our protest made the BBC news.....YES !!!!! (link)
Bush offers stark choice to voters

By Justin Webb
BBC Washington correspondent

George Bush kicked off his election campaign with his third State of the Union address by offering the American people a stark choice.

The spoken message was that a vote for George Bush is a vote for continued progress in safety and prosperity, but supporting an opponent would be a vote for outdated policies that would make America less safe.

The unspoken message was that if voters ditch him as a wartime leader they run the risk of disaster befalling the nation.

The war in Iraq will be a deciding issue in the election
