Bev Harris -- Looks like Howard Dean is "outing BBV" for you
January 22, 2004 -- MANCHESTER, N.H. - Howard Dean unleashed a new line of attack yesterday by hinting at Republican corporate conspiracies to steal elections.
Discarding his old stump speech, slipping-in-the-polls Dean took an Oliver Stone-ish shot at the GOP hierarchy, telling New Hampshire voters about his fear that new high-tech voting machines will be programmed to steal ballots from Democrats.

The former Vermont governor warned the head of Diebold, which makes electronic voting machines, may rig his equipment so that ballots from Democratic voters are not counted.

"Whether you can program a chip or not is up for debate. I think you probably can and have a vote for Al Gore count as a vote for Pat Buchanan," said Dean, who says he'd like every electronic vote counter to leave a paper trail.

6. Let's hear it from the chorus now

Every single Dem candidate ought to stake out a strong position on this BBV issue now. Today.

And that goes for Dem Senators and Congressional Reps.

Stand up and be counted. It's now or never.

Surely we all hang together on this, or we shall hang alone.

9. was there vote fraud in Iowa....
Wondering about the Iowa "upsets"?

Well, let's check the ballots.
Oh, wait; there aren't any....

Well, let's check the machines.
Oh, wait; we're not allowed to....

All but two counties in the Iowa Caucuses used DRE e-vote technology.
And we'll never be able to verify the results.

10. So, No paper ballots?
Remember, the beauty (croak) of DRE's is that you can use the "technology" to help pick who you run against...

...or, if you think you're going to lose, who will do the least damage to your policies until you take power again.

So, just what methods were used in Iowa? DRE's?

11. Good that he's doing it, but the way they frame it is disturbing...
"Dean took an Oliver Stone-ish shot at the GOP hierarchy, telling New Hampshire voters about his fear that new high-tech voting machines will be programmed to steal ballots from Democrats. "

More Gore-ing of Dean. Because they want to label him as crazy, then it will be that much easier to dismiss BBV. I hope it sticks.

The problem with trusting Republicans not to cheat, is that they cheated in 2000 in Florida.

They purged 57,000 voters from the rolls, most of them legal, black voters.

They counted military ballots mailed AFTER the election.

It isn't that people who don't trust a Republican company like Diebold are conspiracy theorists.

It's that people who do trust Diebold ignore recent history.
