Are you talking political affiliation or just plain dictatorship...? You see, Stalin was a left-wing dictator, although that can be debated. I strongly believe that once a dictator gets into power...political affiliation no longer applies. The only difference is that both Mao and Stalin had to answer to the Politburo...which in of itself was, theoretically, more powerful than the PM himself. Same thing could be said about Castro...although I have my doubts.
Hitler and Mussolini were dictators in the "purest" sense. ALL power resided with them...and their cohorts obeyed. Pol Pot didn't have a politburo and was closer in "style" to Hitler and Mussolini than Mao.
Kinda interesting.
Saddam...Iraq... Ayatollahs...Iran... Qahdaffi...Lybia... Ah yes...Manuel Noriega...Panama... Does being backed by the CIA count...? :shrug:
