Do You Know Anyone Who Went to Jail during Viet Nam???? |
|
I know of at least 3 people who went to jail for draft evasion; and several others who went to Viet Nam.
Either choice says something about character.
But a guy who doesn't show up?????????
It also says a lot about character.
After all haven't the republicans said that character counts.
I vote yes. It does count.

2. I have a cousin who went to jail in the heart of the beast: Columbus, Ga. |
|
I was 3/4 of the way through my hellish tour in the 'Nam when I heard from the family of B____'s "treason". I sent him a letter: DO NOT COME HERE! My letter to my family: GET OFF B____'s CASE!
Worked out great. B____ got out of the brig and out of the Army with a slightly degraded discharge. The family - BIG family - became very anti-war because of my prodding from the combat-zone. Notes, very live notes, from the CZ do it every time.
Those notes, and letters - as many of you know - have become short stories. I continue to work on those gems. I'll post my lastest short story in the Lounge when I get back to NC in a few weeks.
