"I am a Dem who voted Gore 2K and will vote Bush 2004?" |
|
Anyone know anyone like this? Not me... I am interested in any stories of this as a flipside to the Repubs voting Dem thread. To give insight if possible. Post 9/11 fear is the only reason I can think of.

Now wait a minute. I lived in Atlanta for many years and actually, The first time I voted was for Zell Miller. Zell was great for Georgia. We got a more liberal guy in there (Roy Barnes) and the voters of Georgia liked it so much that the first chance they got they elected elected Sonny Perdue (The first republican governor since reconstruction). Who would you rather have, Zell or Sonny?

|
I don't know who he voted for in 2000 though. Zell Miller will also support Bush* but I'm almost sure he did in 2000 also.

Unlike me, she HATES politics (C-SPAN REALLY irritates her when I've got it on). Anyway...
Like me, she's a lifelong Dem. But only because her family always has been. Fine by me, obviously. But, she insists she's going to vote for the idiot due to 9-11 and the war on terrorism. It REALLY freaked her out.
And no...We don't discuss the topic too much. I REFUSE to allow my political partisanship to take over ALL of my life. :)
Besides, we're in Indiana, neither of our votes matter.

13. Plus, Indiana is such a huge terraist target! |
|
Living in the NY metro area, that is one thing that kills me. How do people who live in the Midwest or rural areas allow themselves to get so freaked out by "terraism"? I mean, it's not like al Qaeda have exactly picked out Pig's Knuckle, AK as their top target on the map. Yet, many of these same people are the ones who are most frightened by the whole "terraist" threat.
Someone please enlighten me as to how this is the least bit rational.

...And neither of those simple facts have anything to do with government. (Which is basically why she doesn't care about politics. Let's be honest, not much changes regarless of who's in office).
This kind of reminds me of something I think about once in a while...
I've lived my adult life through part of Reagan, Bush I, President Clinton and now the Idiot.
My life, my opportunities, my surroundings and my future have not changed AT ALL over those times.
Maybe that's why I view all of this (Politics) as more of a sport than a life and death proposition (I like rooting for MY team). It's also why I roll my eyes at the "I'M GOING TO LEAVE THE COUNTRY IF BUSH IS ELECTED BECAUSE HE'LL DECLARE MARTIAL LAW", and similar kooky posts.
The nutty conspiracy repukes were saying the same stuff when President Clinton was in office.

I was just thinking this to myself the other day. I read about a handful of people switching and the "Republicans for (insert Democratic candidate here)" signs at the rallies. But I just can't fathom anyone switching TO Bush for 2004.
I've personally converted 3 of my in-laws to the ABB effort. Now to just get my mother-in-law, for whom the only issue she cares about is pro-life. :p

10. if your mother-in-law is *really* pro-life |
|
Tell her about how the Democrats are the pro-life party
-no pre-emptive war is pro-life -making sure the death penalty is applied fairly (or not at all) is pro-life -fixing the health care system so people don't have to choose between food and medicine is pro-life -paying workers a fair living wage is pro-life

I have heard people saying this on Washington Journal, though. I think they're GOP partisans trying to get a psyops thing going.

that delivers my home heating oil and he said that if Bush don't get re-elected, he and his wife are going to move to Canada. I didn't question him any more because that conversation was getting to heated as it was.. I just thought maybe Canada was a good place for him
