If you haven't noticed it yet...Rove's strategy |
|
I heard the other day on the leadup to Countdown that they are considering replacing Cheney with Rudolf Guiliani. Now, we've heard similar things about Powell and Rice but this was on MSNBC. Obviously the GOP is shameless about sucking off the 9/11 teet. So here's what it's looking like to me:
1) GOP goes with Gules as the veep at the convention. This might be enough to get NY state in the general. At the very least it would provide adequate cover for their fraud.
2) The Governator allows fraud to happen in Cali enabling the GOP to take Cali in the general.
3) Jeb still runs FL. 'Nuff said.
With the GOP taking NY, FL and Cali the only way for the dems to win would be to offer to bring back lynchings. I just wanted you all to know what we're up against.

But no way will Shrub* take Cali. Your points about Giuliani and Jeb are well worth considering, though. The neocon cabal that surrounds dear leader believes Cheney to be their point man, hence his recent media rounds trying to soften his image. Only sustained and massive lobbying by Rove (and more reported Haliburton antics) will get him dumped from the ticket. It really pisses me off that they are so obviously playing off 9/11 by holding their convention in NYC. Nauseating, really. :puke: I recently moved from Sac to Pcola, FL (major shrub country), and I am very worried about another repeat of 2000. Jeb is just as criminal as the rest of them. Even all of his kids (and his wife) have criminal records. Scumbags.

3. I disagree. Guliani believes he has a right to favors from the white house |
|
but I think that they don't want him. He has the mistress and cheating hanging on his head, and really too many skellies for him to be closely reviewed.
I bet they run with Frist.

5. I think they'll do it. |

I don't think Ahnold has that firm a grip on California, but I think Rudy could bring New York within reach and I think Florida is hopeless as far as the Dems are concerned. People say that Cheney doesn't want to give up power. What, the awesome power of the Vice Presidency? If he can have that much influence from a position like that, he could do it just as well any place else. Others say that Rudy would piss off the fundies. Maybe so, but it's not like they're going to desert them and vote for the evil abortion-loving Democrats. Besides, Rudy would be popular with all those swing voters everybody's fighting over these days. Democrats better prepare for something like this and be willing to fight dirty.

Cheney's power allows him to formulate the energy policy for the entire nation to favor large energy producers. It also allowed him to lean on the intelligence community until they produced the results that gave him the war he wanted for Halliburton and oil. Can't do that from a boardroom in Texas.

I don't, however, think they would discredit Cheney in any way and force him out of the picture. If they do choose another running mate for the shrub, Cheney will be very much a part of the planning committee. They will cite health reasons for Cheney's departure from his position as VP, but he could very well stay on as a cabinet member or an advisor. At any rate, people listen to a man who has the President's ear, no matter who he is. There are some very powerful men in this country who were never elected by anyone.

12. Giuliani cannot "deliver" New York |
|
it's not gonna happen. People are too pissed off at Bush for lying about air quality after 9/11, about cutting the money sent to NYC for security, etc., not to mention all the other BS Bush has pulled. Rudy's not gonna change that.

If the election is close there, and they use those new voting machines, well...there would be a plausible explanation for a traditionally Democratic state to go Republican in this election if you happen to have a popular former NYC mayor on the ticket. That's all I'm saying.

6. They won't put Rudy G on the ticket |

They may use him as a major surrogate, but their Bible-Thumping Stormtroopers would desert in droves if they put an adulterous, pro-choice, pro-gay rights New Yorker anywhere near that ticket.

I am torn on the guiliani thing...they may if election numbers look bad but not until, again, because Jeb (puke!) wants to be a frontrunner in 2008...
