Notice how gay marriage and abortion comes up ...at elections
Funny how it seems it ignored by the media and most politicians except when it comes to "dividing the people".....

It seems the label of democrat and republican is the same. Why can't people think for themsleves on any issue..without being a democrat or republican.

Look around it's the corporations that are screwing the people and last time I looked...it didn't matter if a rep/dem was in office.

Now ...you guys can flame away and point out key points of difference..that's fine.

My point is ...talk about IMPORTANT things:

* jobs leaving this country
* low minimum wage
* health insurance
* social security funding
* deficits up to our ears etc.....

All this other stuff alays seems to come up so that we choose a "party" for an issue .... rather than somebody having the GUTS to choose what I just mentioned.

1. As a gay person equal rights for gays is important to me
I wonder if in the past when whites brought up abolition of slavery they were told by other whites to focus on important issues like the economy.

I would hazard a wild guess that to many people at DU, the right for a woman to choose is very important.

2. I understand..... and respect your interest
At the same time...why don' the "media" cover this as closely when the "election fever" is over.

I think it's just as important then....as well as the other issues...this one and abortion tend to divide people.

4. Sorry, fighting for equal rights and protection
is not contingent upon how the media covers it, or when. Too bad if heterosexuals are divided over applying the Constitution and the Bill of Rights equally to all Americans. I could not care less if fighting for freedom ruffles some muddle of the road feathers.

3. the "gay marriage" is Republican bait and you're taking it
The repubs want to keep this issue in the media's front burner so it will distract everyone from the real issues AND so they can point to a "liberal issue" that most Americans feel sorta negatively about.

WE HAVE BIGGER FISH TO FRY THAN GAY MARRIAGE.

Don't let them distract you!

Keep your eye on the ball!

The ball being Slaughtergate, Bush's lies and war crimes, and the coverup of 9/11!!!

5. Absolutely. Sex trumps every issue with Republicans.
This will shore up the South. Split Democrats. And fill the airwaves for the next six months. And it is a totally phoney issue!
