TSA and CAPS Program at Airports |
|
Edited on Thu Jul-31-03 10:32 PM by jiacinto
Last weekend I flew to Miami. At DCA I "won" the contest at the gate. I had to take off my shoes and have them give me the "royal treatment". Coming back I received the "royal treatment" too. When I had to go through security I felt very intimidated.
The TSA screener told me that I had been "selected" because I bought my ticket the day of the flight from expedia.com. I also didn't have a carry on because I checked in all my luggage. That's why I got the "royal treatment".
So now I hear on TV that the next step is that they are going to take your name and phone number and address. Could this lead to people being put on "no fly lists" unfairly?
Not that I am worried, but one of my fears is that this program could be used to deny flying priviledges on politically motivated grounds.

1. I heard that too - about the phone number. |
|
And, supposedly, they check on that and the utility bill. I don't believe I'll be interested in flying anytime soon!

3. I have not flown on an aircraft since before 9/11 |
|
I won't fly again either.
Before 9/11, I would fly at a minimum, 4 times each year. Most years many more times than that.

5. What questions, if any, did they ask you? |
|
My personal experience (in Canada) is that the interrogation is worse than a search. There is a physical limit to searches, but questioning can go on and on with no end in sight (or it seems that way at the time.)
