Halliburton TV Commercial: "We're Supporting Our Troops ..."
"We're supporting our troops because of WHAT we know... not WHO we know."

It was pretty disgusting to see David Lesar the CEO of Halliburton bemoaning all the criticism Halliburton has received. He rhetorically asks "will things go wrong" or then quickly acknowledges then dismisses those questions with the excuse of "it's a war zone".

Other memorable lines include "criticism is not failure" and "we can take it".

Yeah yeah... "we're at WAR GODDAMMIT!" and "Ima-war-president" the catch-all excuse for EVERYTHING!!

:puke:

(BTW: It was MY PARTNER who was watching CNN... NOT ME!! I have not given up my pledge to be cable-news free. But even when it's background-noise, one can't help but hear bits and pieces.)

1. those commercials are offensive--
--they insult my intelligence. Pathetic. There's the ad with Lesar, and a second one being shown in the DC area that has the soldier getting news over the phone that he has a baby daughter, all thanks to Halliburton. Curiously, all the soldiers depicted in Halliburtonland are smiling, happy, and mostly lily white.

2. Are Those Halliburton Commericals LOCAL OVERLAYS (Inserts?)
or are they running nationally?

I'm just outside of DC in Prince George's Country... so it's entirely possible that the commercials I'm seeing are the same ones you've seen.

Unless it's for a LOCAL business, it's often difficult to tell which commercials are fed from the networks and which ones are played by Comcast cable.

P.S. I've seen the "it's a girl" commercial on NBC4 during the Today show.

3. yeah, "we support our troops"
until the government quits paying them to be over there!!!

Let's see how supportive they are if they lose some of those precious contracts.
