San Fransisco has now started to issue marriage licenses to couples of the same sex. They are doing it in protest of the California law which only allows only couples of the opposed sex to marry. I don't know why this is only happening in San Fransisco. We need to get this going everywhere. I have called my local representatives, you should too. It's really easy, pick up your phone and call them. Tell them that you want to end the bigotry. Now is the time. We must take a stand for what is right, no matter how popular it is.

5. I'm 17, and I support gay-marriage, and seem to be the only one my age....

Once people realize that they will compare this to the Civil Rights movement, they pick it up.


However, I come from Ohio. Our Congressmen are pushing for a ban on gay marriage, and a poll in my town said people favor gay marrige 70% to 30%. But then again, my town is about close-minded as they come.

6. It is how the debate is being framed

As long as this is abuot them GAYS and FAMILY VALUES (hold it what happened to separation of Church and State???? This is a direct attack ON THAT) the GOP has it made. Why? Them Gays are ruining our families... and they are runing with the same stereotypes they used for them Coloreds (mod note, I am using the language for effect).

Now the moment we take charge of the debate and show to people, that

1.- This is about civil rights

2.- They are here and nothing has changed

3.- Use history and make parallels to oh Arkansas and that year when six kids went to school.. the horror, six African American Kids gonig to school, with whites... the horror, what is next? EQUALITY UNDER THE LAW?

Now what I think they truly fear is that Gays and Lesbians will marry and they will have a better success than straights aka lower marriage rates

Still good job, reframe the debate into civil rights... you are on the right track

7. Your not the only one.

I hammer this out with friends all the time. They will throw out the term fagot and I just flip on them. And then in about 5 minutes I've got them saying that gay marriage should be legal. It's really quite funny.
