1. I would say yes it is a disability |
|
But I'm not sure it should be protected by EEOC.

4. Yes, probably... Although I'd be more concerned with it being classed |
|
the serious medical condition that it is, so that insurance, medicare/medicaid would be required to cover bariatric medical treatment....
I'd also like to see steps taken to reward those who lose weight to achieve and maintain normal BMI (e.g., with a decrease in their health insurance policy premiums or partial coverage of health club memberships)-- something that really could be done through large employer insurance programs.
We need to start treating the obesity epidemic as the serious threat to public health that it is, rather than using it as an excuse to discriminate against the individual.

6. I wouldn't worry about insurers |
|
I'd be more concerned that classifying obesity so broadly would lead to it being a way to deny coverage. The case for a preexisting, uninsurable condition would be pretty easy to make.

8. I voted "no" for the same reason I don't think alcoholism is a "disease" |
|

...it's a lifestyle choice.
Before I get flamed, I've had plenty of family members drink themselves to death and I'm sympathetic to what alcoholics go through. I still don't believe in giving them protected status.

11. Hey, I said what I thought. Last I checked, that was allowed. |
|
As I said, I'm not minimizing the difficulties alcoholism poses and I have first-hand experience with alcoholics. Sorry, I still consider it a choice in the same way I consider nicotine addiction a choice. I'm all for programs to help people dealing with these issues, I just don't feel they warrant protected status.

18. Grey area, and I believe the answer is still "no" |
|
A line has to be drawn somewhere. Too many psychological/emotional are subjective an somewhat arbitrary. Too often speculation fills the gaps left by science in th erealm of psychology.
Moreover, one of the grain of truth around which the Busheviks wrap their odious lies is the very real fact that there is a penchant on the Left to reduce personal responsibility for things like that.
Now, I am not agreeing with Bushevik Talking Points, but I am saying, just saying that their psychoengineered lies have a grain of truth at their core (helps to make the lies more easily swallowable).
And this is one of them. So, in conclusion Skittles, though we will probably disagree, my answer is "no".

treatment for the condition should be readily available. It is almost impossible for very obese persons to lose that weight afterwards; it takes some monumental efforts to get that person back to a safe condition; not all persons have at their disposal the type of resources to do what is necessary to get the weight off. Stomach jobs, dieticians, gyms, medicines etc. Morbid obesity is extremely dangerous to the individual--they need HELP not "stoning".
Ahem..what is EEO?

What EEO? There is no EEO in this country right now. It's acceptable to discriminate in Bush's America.
I could use some EEO.
