I'll admit it. Arnold did a great job on MTP this morning.
If Arnold represents the future of the Rethug party - I say more power to him.

He's not divisive and caustic like the current crop of rethugs in power - he called Newsome a "fanstastic" mayor - and is always talking about Democrats in friendly terms. He's friends with the Kennedys and solidly spoke out against the impeachment of Clinton.

He even refused to say he would veto a bill that would make gay marriage legal in California. He is no religious zealot, like Bush and Cheney.

I'm not saying he is perfect. I'm just saying he is a hell of a lot better than the utterly corrupt Bush* administration. Case in point: he appointed RFK, jr.'s choice to an important environmental position in California...

1. Yeah
He's also very charismatic and polished in how he presents himself. After all those years in Hollywood, how could he not be?

And he knows how to finesse the wedge issues to appeal to people outside the GOP.

But when push comes to shove, he falls in with the kill-the-government crowd. His budget is a disaster, and he has a habit of proclaiming one thing in public and then doing just the opposite when nobody's looking. Gutting funds for the retarded and for elder home care after loudly claiming he wouldn't is just one example. Then of course there's the whole fundrasing issue. He beat up Davis pretty good on that matter, and now he's doing even more of it than Davis did!

In terms of the politicking, however, you're quite right. He's very impressive.

2. I didn't see MTP today
However, I live in California and I will have to agree that Governor Schwarzenegger is more inclusive than the hardcore yuppie fascists who dominate the GOP nowadays. While I don't agree with everything he's doing and will probably vote against his bond initiative March 2, I feel that he respects the right of people like me to disagree with him. He has shown a desire to work with his opposition.

Considering that the face of the Republican Party is too often that of G. W. Bush, Tom Delay, Richard Perle or Ann Coulter, who impugn the patriotism of those who dissent, this is a refreshing change.

3. If Ah-nold can continue to learn from the McCains of the GOP...
...then I can tolerate him. Hell will freeze before a Constitutional Amendment passes allowing foreign-born citizens to run for President, so I can live with him as a GOP party leader. People like McCain, Ah-nold, and Snow need to be more vocal when the neo-cons start pulling their bullshit, though.

4. Good point about the amendment
Arnold certainly is preferable to Bush. Maybe not exactly Nelson Rockefeller, but no wingnut.

5. Any man who will grope women the way Arnold did
is not trustworthy.

Arnold is not about consensual sex.

Arnold is about Arnold. He is doing whatever it takes to get power.

6. he's a better liar than bush
he thinks he has more power than he does.I'd like to see his plastic face collapse and hair revert to it's natural gray. He is absolutely disgusting.
