The October Surprise thread |
|
So far I've heard speculation that Osama will be captured just in time for the election, or that Reagan will die, or both. I just want to add my prediction to the mix.
A few months ago, my roomies attended a lecture by someone I despise. The person I despise has connections in right-wing politics, and he said that he'd bet anything there will be another "terrorist attack" just in time for the elections. :scared:
I find this significant because of the guy's connections.

3. This provides us with sort of a checkpoint on how bad things REALLY are |
|
Think about it:
3 predictions, it's almost certain that fewer than 3 will come true.
1) Raygun's conveiently-timed death
2) The "conveniently-timed" capture of Osama.
3) LIHOP #2 : al-Qaeda attacks another Blue State
It goes without saying that, if martial law is declared, the worst of our thoughts are likely treu.
If they all come true, we're in terrible trouble and people should begin thinking like it's Nazi Germany or Commie Russia and what they are going to do when crunch time comes.
If, one or some combination of the three predictions come true AND a key Democratic Senator or Rep in a battleground state trending Repugs conveniently dies in an "accident"...the same.
If only one occurs, maybe it was a coinkydink, but probably not, but things are still relatively civil and a sliver of hope exists.
But it's a nice guage. Unfortunately, just about every single time we have approached one of theses cynical prediction vs. Bushevik reality, the result has indicated bad to awful.
Let's hope 2004 bucks the trend.

|
He did, in fact, say we should start thinking like it's Nazi Germany. He predicted a wave of anti-semitism (specifically) and anti-minority sentiment (more generally).

at least being Mainstreamed because there are at least two more-despised subgroups in Imperial Amerika (and I am not endorsing this, but merely pointing out the fact), which are African-Americans and GLBT.
I pray NO ONE will be subjected to that sort of turning-back-of-the-clock but if it happens, I think it's unlikely it will fall hardest on the Jews.
Can you tell us the name of the "person you despise", Tucker?

24. For your third prediction... |
|
Someone said something below to cover the first two. I think thatanother attack could be bad for Bush because then two very major security failures will have occurred under his watch. After him insisting that the world is safer due to Iraq and Afghanistan, people will not be too happy with him. He would lose their trust under those curcumstances. Therefore, they would not tolerate more crackdowns on them by shrub. I really hope that this does not happen.
Reagan would not be frozen or kept alive for Bush because as someone said, the two families don't really like each other.
OBL. They may have him, or they may not. Though, he would probably martyr himself, by dying. Making the victory of capturing him less sweet. This could be the most pernicious weapon they have, if they take him alive though. I am starting to think that they don't have him.
As for, the "accidental" death of a dem senatorial or presidential candidate. This may be the most likely, but I think that people would start getting suspicious after Wellstone.

5. All of the above, plus, |
|
some outbreak of male rape of young boys around the country by mind controlled CIA plants.
Also, the possiblity of civil unrest fomented by mind controlled CIA assets leading to martial law and suspension of the election, should the poll numbers start to get outside the parameters of Diebold election scamming.
Just brainstorming here. Anything we could think of will pale in comparison to what the power elite are really planning. Fasten your seatbelts, it's gonna be a bumpy ride.

But your dismissing outof hand such events also willfilly ignores all of human history including recent human history.
Watergate didn't happen?
COINTELPRO?
The Tuskegee Expeiments?
Iran-Contra?
Marcos didn't murder Benino Aquino?
Pinochet didn't murder tens of thousands of dissidents with the help and approval of the Busheviks during the time when raygun was their figurehead?
Now that argument, naturally, does not mean that EVERY speculation is true, but it certaionly does mean that it is quite foolish to dismiss such speculation as 100% impossible.

15. If that's the case then you are too far out there for me |
|
(not that I am dissing your beliefs, I suppose you could be right)
But I prefer my "tinfoil" to be tempered with a healthy dose of historical study and the realization that almost NO ONE really knows the full story.
And as I hope and pray that I am paanoid and mistaken, then that is doubly the case for your projections, because if shit like that is happening, it's time to get the hell out of here.
I would say the likelihood of those things happening is 1-10%. If they do happen...
:nuke: :nuke: :nuke:
...then once again the Busheviks will have exceeded my worst nightmares (but not yours, apparently)

7. No roadmap yet for surprise |
|
Just contingencies based on the following factors:
1. the "mood" of the country - how much trouble is the Bush admin in. How many of the innumerable offenses actually start to stick.
2. BBV - Can they get away with it again without drawing undue attention (relates to #1)
3. The Status of Iraq
4. Strength of Democratic Nominee
The BFEE does not want to let go of power. Ironically, I think the more successful our efforts against the regime are, the greater the liklihood of the regime implementing drastic measure to insure retnetion of the WH.
OBL being produced is the least of our worries. I fear some form of attack, OR SEVERE FISCAL CRISIS in order put emergency laws into effect, thereby suspending elections.

11. Kerry (or whoever the Democrat is) |
|
will be attacked in such a way that the assult on Dean will seem trivial.
If he ever winked at a girl while married, ever took a loan from anyone other than a saint, ever made a comment that wasn't completely sanitary - all these things will be amplified to the point that the idiot electorate will think him Belzebub.
Just yesterday he gave them fuel for the fire with his stance against the death penalty (I'm against it also).
Now you will see the right wing fanning all the flames of racism. Watch for the code words, "soft on crime".
They don't have to create a 9/11 to solidify their control, they already have it. 9/11 was just a bonus. The election is already over.

17. Just playing the devil's advocate... |
|
...this is all a little bit "black helicoptor" to me.
Reagan is in his 90s and in terrible health. I fear his death every election season, anticipating massive treakly outbursts by the press and a "win one for the gipper" mentality among GOPer types. But I doubt seriously his family will artificially keep him going just to help * get elected. There was never a great deal of affection between the Reagans and Bushes.
And having spoken with an officer in the "allied" armed forces - the US is almost certainly not presently in possession of OBL. This person said that items like that NEVER remain a secret, and knew of past incidents that weren't public for weeks, but were known to soldier-types well in advance. Might they capture him soon? Who knows? But I also doubt he'd go alive - he would certainly go down as a "martyr." And with Iraq problems, it begs the question why we didn't focus on killing him sooner.
And while certainly dangerous and inept, I can not fathom a situation where the administration willfully and directly imperils American civilian lives (enviro policies being an indirect threat).

22. There are no "civilians" in the class war. |
|
When the ruling class is imperiled, anyone not of that class or not in total support of that class is an "enemy combatant" when the "shooting" starts.
Policies which have emptied the mental hospitals to the street, destroyed the last vestiges of safety net for the poor, and now the suggestion from the Grand Pundit of Social Capitalistic Darwinism, Alan Greenspan, that Social Security must now be raided; please tell me this is NOT ...where the administration willfully and directly imperils American civilian lives..."
I repeat. There ar no "civilians" in the class war. What we must remember is that there are no civilians on their side either. They are going to show no quarter: WE must show THEM to expect none in return.

Remember how Guliani balked at passing his office to Pataki after 911? What if shrub loses in November, and there is a terrorist attack in late December - early January? We certainly couldn't transition to a new administration in the middle of that.
