Man, that's awful.
Bart sound like he's going into it swinging, which I'm guessing is the right attitude.
Depressing.

Isn't anger the first stage? Long way to go until acceptance.

That aside, people who have a strong drive and will are often the people who have success battling disease.

Thanks for the post Mari...this is awful. I love that guy.
My uncle just quit smoking cold-turkey, btw -- but it was AFTER he had a kidney removed!
Blessed be.

That won't help. You can get Melanoma anytime after your first sunburn. the best sunblock only prevents about fifty percent of the harmful rays. Diesel fumes may cause cancer.

and the pledge to quit. I am proud of you just for saying it.
I did in 1999, after many tries. I was on these boards too, saying I was going to quit and wondering would I succeed. Here's what helped.
I was told I was supporting the Republican party through the tobacco industry, who contributes heavily. That made me sick just thinking about it. Picture the smirk's face on your pack and everytime you light up he says thank you. If you can't quit by just commiting, try the aids like the nicotine gum or patch. If you are still lighting up, change brands to the kind that makes you sick just to smell them. Usually the ultra lights. When you think of a cigarette that taste will come to mind. Do it for someone you love. They will be thankful not to smoke your cigarette with you. Remember, kissing an ashtray. The best reason besides your health, you will have a monkey off your back. There is nothing worse than being a slave to something. You will go through emotional rollorcoaster, so let people know this is what you are doing, and you will probably get support. The are sites that will help you quit. Do a google.
I am so sorry that this has happened to Bart. What a pioneer. He has helped so many with his site.

He taught us to fight back. He made Dems put up their dukes and fight for our lives when it seemed things were hopeless and not worth fighting for any longer. For me Bartcop is the reason I stayed involved and just didnt throw my hands up and surrender to the overwhelming odds we faced dealing with corporations, right wingers,Dittoheads, Media and the RNC. His site gave me new life like a boxer catching his second wind. Thats true stuff to me.

16. Bartcop needs our support... |
|
there is nothing more devastating than experiencing the fear of declining health..from a search of the pleasant roads to Eden, to finding the least rocky alternatives to the end.
It is a horrible process for any individual with any level of courage to go through, and no person can do it alone. We need each other, and Bartcop needs us now more than ever..
Without Bartcop, Internet liberals like us would likely be a media-drivin mess, all marching in line to vote for one person. At least some Democratic competition to Kerry and Edwards has still been preserved in the primaries, and much of it is drawn to forums like DU and Bartcop.
