Question about the California recall
Is there any limit to the number of recalls that can happen per year?

Suppose Gray Davis is recalled because he gets 48% on item 1, and Ahnold or Issa is put in the guvnership with 10% of the vote. If I were the Dems, I might circulate a petition to recall the repuke, and if even a tenth of the people who voted to keep Davis in signed it, it'd be a sure thing. Then you'd have another recall, and another 200 candidates, and if half the people who voted for Davis in the first election vote for him in the second, he'd be a formidable contender. So this thing could go full circle, any number of times, unless there's some kind of statutory limit on the recall process.

What's the scoop?

1. you are right... and any gov. that got in via recall would look
hypocritical if he tried to repeal the act.

but the fact is that no one has really said how this is going to be practical at all... there might be 500 names or more on this ballot when its all over.

2. I have no idea, but that's occurred to me too
no matter who wins, the Democrats ought to do another recall.

Of course, we won't because we'll take the high road and say we don't want to spend another $60 million that California doesn't have, but if the GOP succeeds in this madness, I'd love to see our party organize a recall of whoever wins.

3. Time limit
The California recall law says that another recall cannot happen for at least six months, whether this one is successful or not.

5. Looks like the signature gathering could begin immediately, tho
It took a few months for the GOP to get their recall to a ballot and they started right away, IIRC. But this does put a cap of 2 recall elections per year on the process. Thanks.
