Please rate this Yahoo story (outrage over Bush ads) |
|
Freepers are trying to bury it: http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=514&e=1&u=/ap/20040304/ap_on_go_pr_wh/bush_political_ads_13 Relatives of victims of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks and a firefighters union said Thursday they're angry that President Bush (news - web sites)'s new campaign ads include images of the destroyed World Trade Center and firefighters carrying a flag-draped stretcher through the rubble.
They say the ads are in poor taste and accuse Bush of exploiting the attacks. Bush's campaign defended the commercials as appropriate for an election about public policy and the war on terror, saying they were a tasteful reminder of what the country has been through the last three years. The campaign had said in the past that it would not use the attacks for political gain.
"It makes me sick," Colleen Kelly, who lost her brother Bill Kelly Jr., in the attacks and leads a victims families group called Peaceful Tomorrows, said Thursday. "Would you ever go to someone's grave site and use that as an instrument of politics? That truly is what Ground Zero represents to me."
<snip>
Until Bush cooperates with the federal commission that is investigating the nation's preparedness before the attacks and its response "by testifying in public under oath ... he should not be using 9/11 as political propaganda," said Kristen Breitweiser, of Middletown Township, N.J., whose husband, Ronald Breitweiser, 39, died in the World Trade Center. "Three thousand people were murdered on President Bush's watch," Breitweiser said. "He has not cooperated with the investigation to find out why that happened."

This is disgusting in the extreme no surprise though if Rove tells the idiot son U gotta stand on peoples graves to get re-selected then that's what the Coward from Texas will do.
Sickening is putting it mildly.

6. kick, looks like the Freeps on to this |
|
After I voted, the rating was down to like 1.89 - which means somebody (gee, who could that be?) wants this story "away from the front page"

7. what's with this 'rate this story' bullshit in the first place? |
|
Edited on Thu Mar-04-04 03:17 PM by enki23
does it determine how long it remains on the website, or the priority it gets in its display? or is it just a cosmetic venting device?
a story's priority should be tied directly to the number of people who've clicked on it. "freeping" would be impossible in that case. it would be completely ridiculous if a story which has been viewed many thousands of times were to be shoved off the front page by the deliberate manipulations of certain political activists.

13. I think you are right; it's the number of hits that keeps it out front. |

10. I'm offended by the emphasis on the families |

Edited on Thu Mar-04-04 03:38 PM by rocknation
Am I to believe they're the only ones who care, and the only ones who want a proper investigation? Do they have a private club, or can anyone join? Why are they constantly portrayed as a forgettable bunch of grief-crazed money-grubbing pests who ought to get on with their lives?

11. Many of the widows & families |
|
who are part of the group trying to get answers actually voted for Smirk. I heard them on FreshAire (??), and two of the leaders of the group admitted they are Repubs. I hope their eyes are now open, and they will speak out about the "honor and dignity" now living in the WH
