Fox News Boycott
Edited on Sun Mar-07-04 04:19 PM by cboy4
I've seen posts on DU urging that ordinary
Democrats boycott FAUX News, but how about
Democratic politicians?

I just watched two very unbalanced
interviews this morning on Peter King's
racist comments about Muslims and Bush's
disgusting 9/11 election ads.

And we all know what an embarrassment
Colmes is representing Dems on the
Hannity & Colmes show.

A big part of me thinks Democrats should
start telling FOX to f**k themselves and
stop appearing on that network. I know
some Dems already refuse.

We never get our say!! So what's the
goddam point???!!

Do we have anything to lose?

edit: spelling

1. No I agree
But there are people (and I do understand their point) that says that fox is the only channel some people watches.. and if we want to reach out to everyone.. we have to use Fox aswell.

Also the rightwingers would say stuff like.. we can't debate etc since we dont 'dare' to be on Fox

3. That's a good point, but
it's hard to reach out when you're not
allowed to get your point across.

13. Yep, damned if they do, damned if they don't...
Fox hosts love to brag about how such-'n-such "wouldn't come on" when an issue involving a Democrat/Liberal politician/personality comes up in the news.

Of course, as soon as they get asked a question, and give an explanative answer, those same hosts suddenly think they're courtroom lawyers, demanding a simple "yes/no" answer.

Democratic politicians appearing on Fox only lends it an air of credibility that it doesn't deserve.

Fox News is not a news source. It's an RNC propaganda outlet, and should be treated as such. Let their viewers ask themselves why there are no democrats interviewed at all. Let them try to reconcile that fact with Fox's continuous claims of being "fair and balanced".

If Democrats and liberals of all stripes simply refused to be on that station, we could starve them into irrelevance.

14. I agree with you 100%. It would not take long to see them appear like
the old "GOP TV"- remember that?

6. I've wondered the same thing
Why does anyone want to appear on their network? Fair and balanced? Hmmm.. right. Fox is a republican propaganda tool. Democrats don't get to air their views fully, without being interrupted and attacked before finishing, or even silenced by Bill O'Reilly as he did with the son of the 9/11 victim who he couldn't stop. Of course republicans would claim the Democrats are afraid to appear, but why should they, when they aren't treated to the respect they deserve. I rarely watch Fox since it angers me so much.

9. Well those who know...
...can see through the hypocrisy and bias that Fox News Network in general conveys and that the likes of Hannity, O'Reilly and other Faux News phonies possess. Why boycott the truth? Let these guys rant and rave and do their thing and let our democratic representatives, take the heat. Remember, that which does not kill them, makes them stronger. The lies and crap that the neo-con talking heads keep pushing onto those of us who are awake, will bury them and their kind under the dust of falsity and corruption, IMHO

11. I agree....
and have said the same thing before. I believe that
by Democratic politicians going on Fox and playing
their unwinnable game they just give the network
legitimacy in the eyes of the public. If instead
they boycotted Fox as biased and full of propaganda
the word would get out to the public and at least
people would ask some questions, who knows....maybe
they would even begin to learn a little about how
the media is supposed to work.

Insanity is doing the same things in the same old
way but expecting different results. They go on Fox
to try to get their point across, they get beat up,
mocked and degraded yet they keep going back for more.
Where is the dignity?

12. I think the DNC, or SOMEBODY, should sue their sorry a$$e$
for that 'Fair and Balanced' bullshit. Whatever happened to 'truth in advertising'?

They are advertising a product, right? And misrepresenting it? Why isn't there a lawsuit there?

I'm no lawyer, but if we COULD file suit, Fox wouldn't have a prayer. No way could they defend their nonsense as being 'Fair and Balanced'!

Or maybe a class-action lawsuit, for subjecting large audiences to propaganda, lies and smears which could result in brain damage. Or one for not representing the views of another class-us.

Yeah, there ought to be a case there somewhere.

15. Boycotting FOX? Excuse me, but...
Doesn't this go without saying?
I'd be happy to go on any of their shows to debate the issues, but actually sit there and watch that drivel?
Please.
My time is better spent here.

21. Again, as I mentioned in a prior post,
I'm not talking about us boycotting FOX. While it
may make you feel better, people like you and me
boycotting doesn't really matter too much.

FOX is already #1 on cable because its got the
entire GOP base, while the Democratic base is presumably
split between CNN, MSNBC, PBS and the others.

I'm talking about the Democratic politicians,
spokespeople and liberal talk show hosts refusing
to go on FOX as some already do

That would really illustrate just how unfair and
unbalanced FOX is if it can't get anyone from
our side to comment on issues of the day.

I haven't watched Fox (unfair and unbalanced) since the 2002 elections. I rarely watched it other than the weekend news on stocks and such, anyway. I don't consider it a news channel, just as I no longer consider CNN a news channel. CNN has 3 things it reports on -
entertainment, sports, and celebrities, commercials for travel and vacations, and propoganda from the current administration.

All my real news comes from DU and smirkingchimp.com. Oh and CSpan.
