Dean in Buisness Week
I was going to put this in articles but couldn't find a non-subsription link to post to it. The name of the Article is "Who's The Real Howard Dean" and it's in the August 11th issue.

The gist is; Dean is playng the rols of the rabble rowser on the raod bit in Vermont the conservatives all considered him a moderate to conservative Governor and he was definatly pro-buiness over the environmentalists in the State.

My take-aways? He has what it takes to get elected but doesn't really believe all the progressive rhetoric he's utilizing to differ him from Bush (Hear that Gore?). Bottom line? Another political oportunist.

Just reinforces my creed, fight for issues and not the man (woman). Candidates are ethically suspect simply by the fact that they make it in the game. They are means to an end ought to be a fair, more tolerant society.

1. Do you think that if he wins
He says, "I was just kidding about that other stuff"?

>>He says, "I was just kidding about that other stuff"?

No, he'll do what Clinton did. Form commitees and ignore findings while trying fend off the extreme right-wing assult that will be launched against him.

3. It's amazing to me that Deaners can ignore the howl of environmentalists
from Vermont.A very poor record there, IMHO, AND favoring business interests over people interests. But every time someone tries to post examples and comments from environmentalists on DU, they get shot down.

Losing Vermont jobs to NAFTA is also ignored. But big business, of the kind represented by Business Week, doesn't mind this.

BTW, I DID read the article at the PUBLIC library.

4. That must have been a powerful article...

Can you be more specific about how Dean is like Bush?

Is it his detailed plan to provide healthcare for everyone?

http://www.deanforamerica.com/site/PageServer?pagename=policy_statement_health

His record on education?

http://www.deanforamerica.com/site/PageServer?pagename=policy_record_education

Can't be his economic record. Vermont still has a surplus.

http://www.deanforamerica.com/site/PageServer?pagename=policy_record_economy

And he recognizes global warming and has a plan to deal with it instead of Bush's recommended "further study"

http://www.deanforamerica.com/site/PageServer?pagename=policy_policy_environment_globalwarming

Other differences I see are his promotion of civil rights for gays, protections for workers who wish to unionize, reproductive rights, affirmative action, will nominate moderate judges rather than right wing ideologues, supported emission standards in Vermont more stringent than required in Kyoto, and will increase the minimum wage.

So what specifically is it that makes him no different than Bush?
