New Manufacturing Czar in China Outsourcing Jobs
Just saw Congressman Peter DeFazio of Oregon on CSPAN talking about Bush's new "Manufacturing Czar". Tomorrow, Bush will announce his appointment of Tony Raimondo, CEO of Behlen Manufacturing Co. as his new manufacturing czar.

DeFazio said that Bush will make the announcement tomorrow in Ohio, but that Mr. Raimondo will not be in attendance because he is currently in China supervising the construction of a manufacturing facility for his company.

Just when you think the Bush administration's hypocrisy could not reach greater heights, they surprise you once again.

2. Hard to believe, isn't it
but I guess we shouldn't be surprised.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - President Bush, eager in an election year to show he is working to stem factory job losses, is focusing on Nebraska executive Tony Raimondo to fill a new post of manufacturing ``czar,'' industry and administration sources said on Wednesday.

But the announcement, initially planned for Thursday, hit some snags and administration officials were scurrying to get last-minute feedback from Capitol Hill on the choice.

``He's definitely under consideration,'' a Bush administration official said. If chosen, Raimondo's official title would be assistant secretary of commerce for manufacturing and services.

Even as the Bush administration was rushing to finish last-minute vetting of Raimondo, the candidate, who is head of Behlen Manufacturing Co., came under criticism from Democrats who contend he outsourced jobs to China.

3. And, the article says...
..."...``There is a major factor beyond our control that has tilted the global playing field against us and is causing extremely serious harm to America's (small and medium-sized manufacturers) -- and that factor is the over-valuation of the U.S. dollar,'' Raimondo said in testimony to the U.S. House of Representatives Small Business Committee."

Great, so this guy is being brought in 36 months too late, has been part of the problem and his solution is to allow the U.S. to shrink in value relative to all other currencies, so that the American workers can be the new cheap labor source for the world! Where did these guys learn their economic theory from, Adam Smith 101? The real problem is that we have allowed not outsourcing, but rather the trade deficits to go on for so long at such high levels under the Bush watch, that the dollar is ready to go into a free fall and these people can't do squat about it. So they are going to make it look as though this is what they've planned all along. The crash is coming very soon now.

their campaign. Excellent choice, IMHO.

6. I heard DeFazio too. My mouth dropped open.
I wonder how many hundreds of the millions of voters will ever hear about this. Who watches c-span at night, besides you and me? If this were to make mainstream news, it would be one more nail in Bush's coffin. How and why would anyone support these arrogant s.o.b.s?
