This Week: Zakarias vs. Will
Is it just me, or did Fareed just kick George's crusty ass on the Gay Marriage debate? Sure he got a little help from Michelle, but he came out swinging, and poor old George just laid there flailing! Beautiful...

5. zakarias is muslim
fareed is muslim, but he is nothing like the stereotype of muslims many right and left wingers have. he is very good at presenting an argument and giving his side. his defense of the liberal positions on social issues gives the lie to muslims being backwards and makes the others look backwards. i don't know what it is, but the way he comes across makes it impossible for people to accuse him of certain things like being anti american or left wing nut or anti jewish etc which right wingers have recently used against those who oppose their mideast policy. i think he would make a good sec of state in any democratic administration.

6. Sec of State, huh?
I could see that. He really shows that mainstream Islam is a very tolerant religion (as I have heard numerous times).

7. i'm sure most are like him
i'm sure most muslims are like him, but the media doesn't want to show people like that, they would rather show the fundies like bin laden raving on about jihad anytime they want to do something on islam or muslims. i can just imagine the executives backstage saying how they need to get clips of the fanatics and that people like zakarias are "boring" or would not bring ratings. and when zakarias appears on shows his being muslim is not even really mentioned just as the religion of others isn't mentioned. he is just a normal regular guest like others rather than the "other" or not one of "us" as some see muslims right now.
