How many Americans (soldiers et al) have died in IRAQ?
Enquiring minds want to know.

We have heard from the "Administration," the BBC, and a very dubious site that throws around the word "ZIONIST" and therfore shall remain nameless just to name 3.

It has been suggested that the only numbers to reach the "Media" are the soldiers actually killed on the spot (shot, burned, bombed, etcetera'd to death), and that the soldiers who die en route to the hospital, on the plane to the States, in Walter Reed in DC don't make the stats.

If this is so, then the numbers we are hearing are likely wrong by a factor of about 100%, and the actual count is NOT 500-550 but well over 1000.

Is there any way to really verify the true numbers without resorting to the sites with an obvious and bent ax to grind?

1. I've been thinking about this too
and so far the only thing I can come up with is to start asking the local papers how many soldiers have come back to their communities in caskets. Here in Iowa it's pretty big news when a home boy/girl dies in the service, especially in the smaller towns where you can't hide a coffin.

That and seeing if the VA or some other locally stationed military organization might be able to get some more accurate information.

2. I've been watching lunaville.org's site...
...and it seems they report when anyone dies due to injuries suffered in Iraq, even if they died stateside. However, they only know what's in the DoD press releases...

3. still, if the DoD is putting out a report
or release that has numbers contradicting wht the press keeps touting as official numbers then that should be considered a rather credible source

6. son of a bit**!!!
I never saw that until now, thank you. Whether you like Hack or not you have to respect him. He's a man who 110% supports the people in the field and tells it like it is. If he's getting it from a friend in the army about the casualty count then it's probably true

7. Hackworth report was at end of 2003
I wonder what the current number is? Senators on the Intelligence and Armed Services Committees are not able to get a straight answer.

8. THIS is the "third rail" for the Bushites (IMHO)
When they claimed "MISSION ACCOMPLISHED," they left themselves wide open for the Vietnam/Body Count/Body Bag syndrome.

If I were a Liberal Media person (a contradiction in terms???) I would talk of nothing else 24/7/365.
