Commentators on CNN all saying/agreeing how tough the press was on Bush during the latest press conference.
Umm... Uuuuuh... WHA????
Has he done a press conference since the one I saw a couple days ago?

1. Unbelievable! They fawn all over the guy. |

They play paddy-cake with him compared to the way they treated Clinton.

3. This is just a PRETENSE at balanced reporting....There is NOBODY |
|
speaking for the left!!...Goldberg is a right wingnut and the guy from Newsweek is going along with the "Bush is doing a good job" line...They are all disgusting....Especially Howard Kurtz who is posing as an impartial moderator.

5. Forget about speaking for the left... |
|
... there is nobody speaking the TRUTH!
I don't give a shit about left or right. I think all of that is just made up bullshit. The issues that impact this nation don't exist along a 1-dimensional continuum.
However, what I was seeing on CNN (I finally turned it off) was just made-up BUSHIT!

8. You're right it is made up bullshit....but if there was a left perspective |
|
given as well as the right, there might be a bit more of a chance that the reporting would be balanced...All their coverage is on the premise that Bush is fighting gamely on despite unwaranted attacks from Democrats (the left according to them)....IMO

This is the exact thing I throw at wingers. Left yes, but the truth is most important and I think that is what Progressives are all about.

4. Of that conference, David Corn wrote... |
|
...:
So Bush dodged a straightforward question about the evidence (or lack thereof) underlying his Hussein-and-al Qaeda assertions by discussing the search for new evidence, he engaged in transparent revisionism (referring to weapons programs rather than weapons stockpiles), and he claimed to have conducted an extensive review of intelligence, though his aides say he did not fully read the major document on matter. All in one press conference. That was quite a performance--above and beyond the normal call of spin. To top it off, he declared that he takes responsibility for everything he says, "of course." How nice. He may take responsibility. But he is not held accountable.
Tough, my ass.
Cheers.

16. His "I take responsibility" is only as good as Lott's "apology". |
|
OK, you forced me, "I take responsibility." OK, "I'm sorry if my words offended you (not that I said them, just that they offended you)".
Just mouth the words. No "price" to pay for them.
Disgusting.

6. The reporters did not ask one follow up question... |
|
They allowed him to evade questions, give incorrect answers, and to screw up half the names he had to pronounce. What was the response to this by reporters? They laughed, smiled and nodded along with Dubya.

I think I read somewhere that those questions were pre-planned and again GW called on pre-selected reporters. Well, that doesn't surprise me. He can't answer any question off the cuff.

9. "follow up question?" I haven't seen one since the coup. |
|
The Sunday morning Republican commercials (MTP, etc.) became unbearable for me when I noticed that there are no follow up questions. Nothing but lobbing softballs over the plate when a Republican is in the batter's box.
Ask question, nod while talking point is puked out by the Republican guest, then ask next question on the list. It's awful.
