He does not remove the laws. Instead he basically says that no one can possibly abide by all the rules, thus he bids them to focus on a few special ones and especially the golden rule. His sacrifice is supposedly for the fact that no one can possibly die without sin.

I always like to look for some resonable explanation for these things.
For those of you who do not live in coastal areas, there is something here, at least, called Red Tide. It is an organism that affects shellfish and if humans eat of it, it causes a neurological disease.

A bloom of dinoflagellates that causes reddish discoloration of coastal ocean waters. Certain dinoflagellates of the genus Gonyamlax produce toxins that kill fish and contaminate shellfish.

The waters here are constantly being tested for red tide and waters suitably posted and quarantined. This Red Tide has nothing to do with polution, although there are a lot of shellfish contamination that does.

also about prosecuting anyone who ignores the posted areas. Fines are heavy.

There is folklore amongst the old timers here that shellfish should not be eaten in any month that does not have an R in it. I am not sure if in today's modern times, with refrigeration readily available, that this is true. But that is what the old timers will tell you and that is what they do.

I am not sure if shrimp are affected by the red tide either. Shrimp come into the bay waters to lay their eggs when the temperature of the water is at a certain point.

Didn't Peter in one of his letters recount that he had had a dream about seeing all the unclean foods and God telling him that it was now permissible to eat them and that was why the old food laws didn't apply any longer to Christians? It has been a long time since I last read the Bible, but I seem to recall something along those lines.
